GT-BE98 as main and GT-AX16000 as node

Hello everyone,

My current setup consists of AXE16000 as main and 2x GT-AX6000 connected wirelessly.
Apart from the lack of 3.0.0.6 fw which main lacks but nodes have, the buggy wifi ssid's in Router App and the occasional restart needed, I've been happy with it.

As my ISP is expanding 10G, I'm looking into buying some more gear, specifically the BE98.
I've read several older threads here, on SNB and Reddit concerning various issues, but nothing recent (2025).

If someone has these 2 (BE98 and AXE16000) please tell me, how well they work together currently?
I know I won't be getting MLO, WiFi7 and don't use Smart Connect, also the plan is to use them with Ethernet Backhaul (while keeping the 2 AX6000 wirelessly or removing them if not needed), but I want to know if all 4 wifi networks are being replicated from main to node, if Guest Network Pro gets replicated, or of any known issues.

Thanks, all input is appreciated!

First, I need to confirm you have a BE98 and not the Pro version.

The AXE16000 is good because the radios all match the BE 98.  Any guidance someone might give would rely on your environment layout.  How much space will the routers be apart, any multiple floor situations.

The types of devices you expect to use the network may help, such as IoT type devices or just computers and phones?

Right now, I just have two BE98 Pros.  My floor space is not such that I need to extend the network beyond the range of just those two.  I like to keep the network as simple as possible, then see if I actually need another device to help with connections to devices in other parts of the house.  If the signal strength of a device is less than -70 dBm, it will probably drop off the network.  If you show signal strengths in the -35 to -60 dBm range, the connection should be OK.

Thank you for the input, Saltgrass!

I am indeed looking into the BE98 (with 2/5/5/6 bands, same as AXE16k) not the BE98 Pro (with 2/5/6/6 bands).
The network  itself is already figured out and working as it should.

What I want to know, before buying BE98 is this:
1. Do all 4 bands replicate correctly from BE98 main to AXE16k node (2/5/5/6)
2. Does the Guest Network Pro from BE98 main replicate to AXE16k node
3. Any known issues in the use case scenario (BE98 main and ACE16k node)?
Cheers!

I should mention my AXE16k runs on beta 9.0.0.6 fw which enabled Guest Network Pro.

As long as you are using Wired Backhaul, everything should connect as you might expect.  When moving around, the devices should pick up new connections whenever they need.  The Guest Network pro does work the same way.

The Primary router sets the configuration.  Being connected to the node looks just like being connected to the primary.

I haven't seen much from the international folks, in this forum, for a while.  Initially there were some growing pains, but I assume they have been worked out.

The price of the BE98 Pro has been dropped since it appears a newer version is about to be released.  No price is yet mentioned for the new one and it only has three radios.
