Fiber / Fibre to Home

My ISP is upgrading their infrastructure and running fibre into everbody's home.

Am I dreaming, or is did I read somewhere that you can plug the ISP fibre connection straight into the AX-11000? ISP connection will be SC I believe, so perhaps it was a SC to RJ45 conneciton? Might require some sort of transceiver?

Today, my AX-11000 still goes through the ISP Modem, but my PPPoE credentials are used on the Asus, so it does get a public IP and speeds are quite good. I am just wondering if soon I will be able to eliminate the ISP modem entirely.

You probably need to check with your ISP. I believe fiber has some type of device outside the house which converts it to what you need.

You may be able to get some info by just searching the Web for fiber installs.

You don't mention the speed of the new connection. If it is higher than 1 Gbs, there is some doubt if the 2.5 Gbs LAN port can do a WAN speed of higher than 1 Gbs. You might be able to answer that question.

The fastest package available to me would be 1.5 Gbps down / 940 Mbps up.

I guess I'll find out soon enough
