My isp upgraded my package to 1gbps down and 500mbps up in December 2024. During that time my gt-ax11000 was connected to my isp modem (set as bridge mode). I did Speedtest on Ookla app on Apple TV that is wired to router with download speed around 950mbps and upload speed 500mbps. All working fine.
Since last week, the same speed test consistently giving 950mbps down and only 150mbps up. Called isp to come on site for troubleshooting with the following results:
A. ISP dlink remains as modem, isp technician connects his windows laptop with cable to my router, he managed to get 500mbps up. While all my devices such as wired Apple TV, iPad Pro m4, iPhone 16 pm can only get 150mbps up.
B. Setup dlink as both a modem and router, all the above devices got 500mbps upload. This basically not using Asus router at all.
C. Dlink remains as modem and router, Asus router as ap mode with cable connected to Dlink. All the above devices getting 500mbps upload.
D. Dlink remains as modem and another Asus router XT8 connected to Dlink, same results as A.
Both my Asus routers do not have QOS enabled, all testing were connected on wifi 5ghz or wired to Asus router. The internal ookla speed test of router also showing 950mbps download and 150mbps upload. Factory reset routers a few times also same issue. Roll back to firmware released in November 2024, same result also. I tried to disconnect all devices from my wifi, leaving only my iPad Pro m4 connected. The speed test is still getting 150mbps upload.
I can’t figure out what went wrong, this is driving me crazy and I am actually thinking to migrate to other brand if still cannot resolve. Can some one share some tips what was the root cause of this. Thank you.

I'm sorry but it seems you've mixed "upload" and "download" in a few places so I can't tell exactly what is going on.
Trying to sum it up when the GT-AX11000 is the "router" meaning providing DHCP service upload speed is about 1/3 what it should be?

Yea, router means it’s the dhcp issuing ip address and routing the traffic but upload speed is only about 150mbps.
Sorry typo in original post, I’ve made amendment. Thank you.

A long long time ago ISPs used to sell service by device, meaning one computer. Of course one may get wise and try to connect a router and share that service. Once the ISP recognized a different MAC address they would sometimes block service. You could try cloning the D-Link WAN side MAC address and seeing if the ISP is possibly doing this dirty little trick to you...

This is not applicable for my case as isp no restriction on how many clients can connect to internet. I am thinking maybe router firmware bug but it’s being ruled out when I roll back to previous firmware dated November 2024 where that time my up speed was full speed. Tired to troubleshooting. Think to move on with TP-Link router instead haha.

When looking at cases C and D it would be a big suspect of mine that ASUS MACs are being discriminated against...
One concern is if the ISP offers for lease their own mesh system, meaning they have something to gain if you have difficulty with your purchased equipment.
Which ISP? Google search can possibly pop up results with similar complaints...
Best of luck though. My main router is a Deco BE95 to be honest...

When the tech came to my place he connected his laptop with cable to one of the lan ports of the router and ran test. He was able to get full speed for upload. If its the router Mac being discriminated then his laptop should get slow upload too.

When you revert back to the November '24 firmware, did you do a hard/factory reset on that firmware version? (It is larger than the latest one).
EDIT- Is it possible that the November firmware wasn't installed at the time of the speed upgrade? In that case I tried to find the firmware just prior to that:

I suppose I have two questions. First, what changed between your first and second paragraphs. Did any of your devices get some type of firmware update? I believe the iPhone and Apple TV have seen those types of updates in the last few months.
Secondly, is the statement below correct? If it is, the Apple TV stays connected, if wired, and shows as a yellow port on the router. I have an iPhone 16, but I do not use it for wireless.
I tried to disconnect all devices from my wifi, leaving only my iPad Pro m4 connected. The speed test is still getting 500mbps upload.

Yup, since end of last year until last week, there had been multiple iOS updates. Though iOS is updated, Apple TV and all devices got full upload speed in case B.
Sorry my bad, wrong statement. Had been troubleshooting long hours and my brain is not really clear haha. Amended the statement already.
