Can I add an AP node to my Asus Mesh?

So I have two AXE16000 in wired mesh configuration and wanted to try adding one extra router (axe11000) as a wired  AP .
Is that possible?

Yes absolutely doable.  You would need to add it as an AP by connecting to it directly and setting it up as an AP.

EDIT-  I suggest you set a manual IP address to it that you can easily remember to facilitate going back to the configuration page, because neither  asusrouter.com nor router.asus.com will get you there.

Ok so I will add it like I was setting a new router not related to the  mesh and select AP from the options (IIRC that comes up)? Maybe I can connect to my laptop to set it up easier.

I can't remember if it is an option in Quick Setup but there is a tiny text option at the bottom for Advanced Setup that should definitely allow you to.

  • I'm still scratching my head why it doesn't allow you to create a simple 2.4 GHz Guest/IoT network while it allows me.  I am more than happy to share the configuration of the rest of my WiFi setup on the AXE16000 for reference.  Since they are all wired try enabling Ethernet Backhaul Mode if you have not already?  This releases all bandwidth for your device use...
