Better router with worse cpu?

AX56U https://www.asus.com/Networking/RT-AX56U/specifications/
AX58U https://www.asus.com/Networking/RT-AX58U/specifications/

Comparing this two routers, I find it weird that the cheaper inferior model (56U) has a quad-core processor, while the superior 58U has a tri-core. Is this the case or am I missing something, different architectures?

Asus RT-AX56U
The Asus RT-AX56U is based on a Broadcom BCM6755 chipset. It uses 2x2 MIMO on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, with max link speeds of 574 and 1201 Mb/s respectively.

Asus RT-AX58U
The Asus RT-AX58U is know longer and based on the Intel Lantiq WAV654 platform. It also uses 2x2 MIMO on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, but increases max link speeds to 574 and 2402 Mb/s respectively by using 160 MHz channels on the 5 GHz band.

So the answer I guess is different chipset architectures doing similar things to my knowledge.

Seen that, but I've also fund "ASUS RT-AX58U features a tri-core Broadcom BCM6750 processor, running at 1.5 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, and 256 MB of storage space for the firmware. https://www.digitalcitizen.life/asus-rt-ax58u-review

"There have been discussions that the RT-AX58U was equipped with an Intel Lantiq GRX350 CPU (like the NETGEAR RAX40) which would cancel the possibility of it being supported by Merlin, but, since it’s now confirmed that the router is Broadcom-based, it should receive the Merlin custom firmware at some point this year."

So.. where are we at?

Personally I’m at the staying out of the bargain price end of routers when I expect high performance stage.*
