After an automatic firmware update in March 2025, the ASUS TUF AX4200 WiFi has been slow and unreliable. The firmware version is: 3.0.0.4.388_33903
Pages would start to load, and then loading would hang for maybe 30 seconds or longer. This would happen approximately every 5 minutes, so it is difficult to reproduce unless you are continuously browsing. Wired connections seemed to be fine.
You can turn off auto updates and then download and flash the previous firmware version: 3.0.0.4.388_33506
This seems to fix it.
I found other reports about this (probably buggy) firmware online, but could not see it mentioned here. I think it also applies to other MediaTek based routers from ASUS.

Are you wanting to retry the update?
Did you reset the router after the new update completed?
If you decide to retry, we will need more technical info regarding what you are seeing.
Do you have any links to other sites discussing this, like the SNB forums?

I did not try resetting the router. That would have been my next step. Since the downgrade worked, I decided to just stick with it, for now.
