ASUS RT-BE96U

Having some issues with my new router. In most situations it’s fine. I can get between 600-1900mbps on speed tests throughout the house. (I have a 2.6gbps fiber connection)

The problem is periodically the speeds go from like 600mbps down to 2mbps. The upload will stick at like 1mbps. So barely useable.

it seems like a firmware issue more than anything. How do we let the engineers at asus know? Also, does ASUS offer any sort of beta bios? Wouldn’t hurt to be on the newest. Thank you

On the router pages (ASUSwrt/WebGUI) under (left side) Advanced Settings - Administration, on the upper part there's a Feedback tab.  Fill out all the information and explain what the problem is in the text box.  I'm not exactly sure what Enable System Diagnostics does but I usually select Yes.

This will log all sorts of parameters and send it to ASUS, and they can address it best and post an updated firmware, (hopefully very soon).

EDIT-  Yes they do offer beta BIOS at times.  Again under Administration there's a Firmware Upgrade tab at top.  Under Firmware Version there's a tiny text with a checkbox "I would like to retrieve beta firmware."  If you check the box then click Check it will give you the option to flash any available beta firmware.

It can always be something other than firmware.  Some things to look for are time of day, does it have an effect?  All of your connections from the ISP device to your computer, if there is a weak link like a bad connection or deficient cable, it may be causing your speeds to change.  The connection to your house, contacting the ISP might be helpful.

You don't mention whether this is Wi-Fi or Ethernet.   When you check the properties of your network in Windows, does the link speed shown agree with your testing?

I seem to remember, for new Routers, there is a firmware update fairly soon after the initial release of the Router.
