Asus RT-BE88U and Wifi 7 connected smartphone not shown in Client List and Wireless Log

Got my BE88U yesterday and reconfigured all my devices. At this point I have only one Wifi 7 capable device, my Android smartphone.

I can successfully connected my Android smartphone via Wifi 7 and the 160Mhz channel bandwidth, however, the smartphone isn't shown in the client list and also not wirless log. But it's connected and traffic goes through the BE88U router, I even have mobile data disabled so the only way to watch Youtube videos is Wifi. All other devices, which are all NOT Wifi 7 capable, whether Windows, iOS TV, and other iOS and Android smartphones, are shown in the client list and wireless log. But, I can see my Android device in the DHCP lease and Connections log.

Sooo... is this a known issue? I'm on the latest available Asus firmware (3.0.0.6.102_37094-g9192b87_980-gbd310_BB0B).

I looked up your router and it appears it does not have a 6 GHz radio.  Could I get the model number of your Android smartphone so I can check it.

I currently have an iPhone 16 which is Wi-Fi 7 and does show up on my network map.

Thanks.

Yes, there is no 6 GHz band but that's okay as my smartphone also doesn't have 6 GHz support: it's the OnePlus 11 5G global version.

If you phone is showing as connected to a specific SSID on your router, it should show on that network on the router.   If it is not showing, then something else may be going on.

The definition of Wi-Fi 7 is what is shown below.  If you do not have Wi-Fi 6e, perhaps that is involved in your situation.  You only have Wi-Fi 6, so I am not sure exactly what this means.  Sorry I do not have a good answer for you.

Wi-Fi 7, also known as 802.11be, is the newest version of the Wi-Fi standard and builds on the found....

Wifi 7 doesn't require the 6Ghz band, so this isn't the issue.

Again, my OnePlus 11 5G is connected, I see it listed with an IP address lease, I can verify the public IP via sites like whatsmyipaddress.com. And, I see the OnePlus 11 5G listed as device in Traffic Analyzer.

I have a OnePlus Open phone and it just shows up as a MAC address with no manufacturer name.  (On T-Mobile, our cellular provider, I believe it eventually shows up as an old Samsung Galaxy model).  Is that what you are seeing?  (Mine is with a GT-BE98 Pro router).

Where does it show up?

I've just installed the Asus router app (on Android) and my OnePlus 11 is listed here as an offline device although I'm just connected and using the router app. 🙈

If you have other phones on your system, you might try turning one or more if them off to see if anything changes.

I remember not being able to see my phone for a short period of time but eventually it came back.

If you are running the Traffic Analyzer, do you have QoS enabled?
