Asus RT-AC5300 WERAK SIGNAL

Trying to add RT-AC5300 as a node on my main ZenWifi AX.. The issue I am having is showing a WEAK SIGNAL  via wifi on the RT-AC5300, and is 2 feet away or 1/2 meter away, is impossible for a weak signal. Tried everything. power recyccle, factory resert, hard factory reset etc, nothing... I even cleaned terminals form the antenas. Any one have a possible solution I would appreciate. Or maybe rollback the fiormware? I don't know.. thnk you in advance.. Or should it go to the trash...

You can add it via Ethernet connection, LAN port on ZenWiFi, WAN port on AC5300.  Once connection is made turn off the AC5300, disconnect the Ethernet connection, and move it to the desired position.  AiMesh automatically chooses the best backhaul option…

Yes sir, I just did that, the signal was GREAT, when I unpluged ethernet cable, same thing, back to weak signal at 2 feet or .5 meters away, is just not normal....

If you now move the AC5300 to your preferred location and turn it on, does it not connect?

(I am wondering if beamforming has anything to do with it)…

It connects with a weak signal showing on my phone with the asus router app. But later on it goes offline 😞

I attach phone screen shot, the funny part, where I placed it, my phone wifi has good wifi signal, but this router signal sucks and goes offline

as you can se line, weird.. in picture1000020513.jpg

Hmm.  Is it possible to switch positions:

RP-AX58 <-> RT-AC5300 ?

EDIT-  I have a RP-AX58.  I am not confident it will function well as the middle node, that is why I suggest moving it to the end node position.  Alternatively you can select the preferred uplink of the RT-AC5300 to connect to the ZenWiFi AX:
