Asus Rapture GT-BE98 + Hybrid internet (DSL + LTE) + Gaming Lan Port not working?

Hello everyone,

I just got my GT-BE98 Router and set it up in Access-Point Mode within my existing Network.

I have a Speedport Hybrid Router that works with DSL (only 16 Mbps) and LTE (up to 80 Mbps).

When I plugged in my gaming pc to the Gaming LAN Port, I immediately noticed a hugely improved ping in Counter Strike 2 (it would be 30/40, it was 22).

HOWEVER...

It seems that my pc now ONLY uses the DSL connection (and it doesn't even seem to use the full 16 Mbps - although that could be because other people are using internet in the house as well).
I did multiple speed tests on different websites, the speeds were ALWAYS below 16 Mbps (roughly 8-10 down, 1-2 up). That is a very low amount ...

When I connected my phone to the WiFi of the router, I instantly got download speeds of up to 80 Mbps - suggesting that it really is the gaming port (or lan connection from the router to the pc) somehow limiting the speed. I bought a brand new 3m CAT 8.1 cable with good isolation too, so I'm sure it's not the cable. I used the same LAN cable that goes from my 2nd floor (where the main Speedport router is) to the 1st floor, that is layed into the walls of the house. I never had this issue with my old TP link router (which was garbage) - so I'm sure it's not that cable either.

Does anybody have a solution or an idea what's going on here? Again, while the connection is cleaner for gaming, what's the point if it's barely usable for consuming content that requires more than 10 Mbps...

Not sure as you made no mention but make sure QoS is disabled if it is not...

Why? What is QoS and how can I disable it?

My BE98 Pro is in Access Point mode.  I just went to search and QoS is not in any of the settings.  I guess it is only available when set as a router.

The reason is at one point QoS was enabled on my router, and when I did a speed test I could not let full speed.  It somehow saves bandwidth for other clients.  In your case you really don't want that.  (Ours is 1 Gbps fiber but it's not enough to notice, maybe I was getting 600 - 700 Mbps when originally I would get the full 94x Mbps before it got enabled accidentally).

I disabled QoS on my ethernet adapter, nothing changed.
Also, I do have options for separating certain network traffic to DSL only (marked Diffserv, something like that).
However, I disabled it - still seem to only be using the DSL connection. I assume it's the gaming port taking control somehow?
I'd get if I get the DSL connection priority, but why is it limited to DSL?

I'm not exactly sure, but I would guess the DSL ping is much lower than the LTE ping.  I can only suggest that you connect your PC to one of the non-ROG Gamer Ports and try again.  At these service speeds you are underutilizing Ethernet capability anyways...

this is a speedtest with the 1G lan port (non gaming!)

...and this is the speedtest with the 10g gaming port. I'm really confused.

I thought the issue was the gaming port somehow prioritizing packets? The 1g port to the left of it isn't actually meant to be a gaming port, right? How come I'm getting slow speeds on that too?
And btw:
I did a speed test on my phone and it immediately was above 80 Mbps, using the same GT-BE98, just via WiFi. Meaning: It's not an issue in terms of the LAN cable to the WAN port for the AP mode.

Edit: tried the other LAN port too (one of the 4 grouped ones)...I'm really confused at this point. Is it the "8.1 high quality" LAN cable???

Edit 2: Used my old lan cable (confirmed working, had the high speeds before) - stil the exact same. Right around 10/11 is the limit.
