AIMesh clients losing connection periodically

Hello,

I have the following setup:

Fiber Internet

 ---> RT-BE88U Router (fw:3.0.0.6.102_37094)

 ---> RT-BE86U AI Mesh Node (fw: 3.0.0.6.102_37174)

Router & Node Connected via ethernet backhaul (WAN port on 86U, LAN port on 88U)

Quite frequently wifi devices seem to lose their internet connection. They are still connected to the wifi, but it seems to happen when switching to the 86U node. Turning off & on the wifi on the device seems to resolve the problem.

Any ideas on what I should look at?

Well, unfortunately, the issue is persisting. Open to any other suggestions people might have. Thanks!

If you are walking around, perhaps take your phone where this happens and then check the signal strength from that location.  If you have the phone app you should be able to watch, if you have the Web GUI. you could just leave your phone and go check the Web GUI.

The radios are set to disconnect (Roaming assistant on wireless Professional page) below a certain signal level.  You could check that and see if it shows -70 dBm and perhaps setting a lower level, such as -75 or -80 dBm.

I don't remember if you were asked if you might be using Smart Connect for your networks.

I don't have your routers, so I have no knowledge regarding their compatibility.

I just encountered the hanging and checked the dbm for my device and it showed as -71 then -73

I don't believe this router has SmartConnect, so that isn't set. I'll change the setting to -75 and see if that helps.

I don't have the same routers, but I can say I've seen my phone switch to mobile network due to poor connection to the internet, AND I was stationary, meaning it makes no sense that the WiFi pie/pizza shows full signal but drops.

Yesterday my son was scheduled to take a full length practice test and I advised him to connect to Ethernet to avoid this....
