Did you mean:

AIMesh clients losing connection periodically

Hello,

I have the following setup:

Fiber Internet

 ---> RT-BE88U Router (fw:3.0.0.6.102_37094)

 ---> RT-BE86U AI Mesh Node (fw: 3.0.0.6.102_37174)

Router & Node Connected via ethernet backhaul (WAN port on 86U, LAN port on 88U)

Quite frequently wifi devices seem to lose their internet connection. They are still connected to the wifi, but it seems to happen when switching to the 86U node. Turning off & on the wifi on the device seems to resolve the problem.

Any ideas on what I should look at?

note -- i have disabled 2.4Ghz, so oly 5Ghz is taking connections.

The BE88U latest firmware has a note in red.  Did you upgrade the firmware to this version, or did it already have it when you purchased it?  The reason is the note says if you experience any issue after installing it, then you should hard reset the router, and re-setup AiMesh.  Although the BE86U does not have the same red notice you'd need to hard reset it also to re-add it as a node...

I had upgraded to this version, but I did that before I set up the mesh network. Also, note that the message says:

I just did a full hard reset of the router and the node and it appeared to be working ok for a little while, but now I'm experiencing the same issue.

I would suggest you re-enable the 2.4 GHz radio since it has a stronger signal with increased distances.  This is for testing only.

I just did a full hard reset of the node & the router. This re-enabled the 2.4 radio. I initially thought things were ok, but appear to still have the same issue.

If you haven't yet tried, consider trying to enable Ethernet Backhaul Mode:

Under General -> AiMesh -> System Settings (tab) -> Ethernet Backhaul Mode (toggle)

I enabled the Ethernet Backhaul Mode and also changed my router to use the 10G port for the LAN/backhaul connection, so it's now 10G -> 10G instead of 10G -> 2.5G. It seems to have been stable since last night, so fingers crossed!

Can you see anything in common with the devices which are dropping their connections?

Why are those devices changing from the primary to the Mesh node, such as, are they being physically moved?

If you ever wanted to check the log, you would need exact times when such occurrences happened.

It seems like they were dropping when walking around the house (mostly noticible on phones) & switching nodes with proximity. Per my message above, it *may* be fixed now. I'll update in either case.
