As the title says, I have a RT-BE88U and I'm thinking about buying ZenWifi BT8 and configure the AI Mesh as Wired Etherenet Backhaul since I have several wire connections throughout the house.
Question: Since the main router is dual-band and ZenWifi BT8 are tri-band (both WiFi7), will the ZenWifi BT8 lose the 6ghz band if it's connected as node, even tough it's using the wired backhaul?

Since I don't know for sure, it would make sense you would not be able to add a SSID to the Mesh nodes. It would make sense to use the BT8s for primary and Mesh then use your current one for Mesh.
I have no experience with the BT8.

If you decide to purchase the routers, you can test yourself. You should have no problems using your current router as a Mesh node. Of course, I am assuming that BE88U is qualified for being a node.
But if being able to use your original configuration is important, maybe you should go another way.

It's very likely that the 6 GHz will not be configurable on the BT8 functioning as an AiMesh node. A not common possibility is to set the BT8 as an Access Point. Around here retailers allow one to purchase and try a product for a certain number of days, (typically 30), and return it for a full refund. It's best if you have access to such a retailer.
A BT10 might be more fitting as a router, I know more money, but it also has dual 10 Gb Ethernet capability meaning you can have 10 Gb Ethernet Backhaul.

I leaning towards this outcome as well after making some research online it seems something like BD5 (still not available in Europe) would be a best match if I want to keep the BE-88U as original router (which I do, given it has so many ports and also 10gb). Ive considered the BT10 but have to think about it. Im thinking about Amazon and they allow for refund. But it's wierd that there is so little information online about this configuration type
