I received the power supply on July 27th, 2025, and since then, the OLED display has been completely black. I have tried everything – from reinstalling software, checking all connections, updating firmware, and even consulting ChatGPT – but nothing has helped.
It’s extremely frustrating, especially for a power supply that costs over €300. I couldn’t find any helpful troubleshooting information online, and ASUS support only offers very limited and generic guidance. This specific issue – a completely non-functional OLED screen – is not even listed as a known problem on the official support page.
At this point, I’m very likely going to return the unit and get a cheaper alternative. This experience has left a bad taste, especially since this was my first high-end power supply from ASUS – and possibly the last.
Interestingly, ASUS Aura lighting works fine, but the OLED has never worked from day one. Very disappointing.

Hi @5h4d0w
That sucks, sorry to hear that.
Send the unit back immediately and request a replacement. Honestly, the Thor II is an excellent PSU with a reliable OE and great power stabilisation/filtering features; the OLED is a nice additional feature. If the screen is for some reason faulty, it would be a shame to dismiss it purely on receiving a DOA one.

Hi @5h4d0w ,
Thank you for providing detailed information and feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that the OLED display on your ROG THOR 850W Platinum II power supply is not functioning.

Hello Aureliannn_ROG,
Thank you for your response.
I have checked all the suggested points:
The OLED cable is properly and securely connected to the motherboard.
All other cables are also correctly and firmly connected.
My motherboard is the ASUS ROG Z690-E Gaming WIFI with BIOS version 3701.
I am using the latest version of Armoury Crate, but the PSU is not being detected by the software.
The OLED display on the PSU remains completely off, although the RGB lighting is working.
I’ve recorded a short video to demonstrate the issue.Unfortunately, I currently don’t have permission to upload files through your system. Please let me know how I can provide the video to you – for example via email, cloud upload, or another method. The PSU’s serial number (SN) will be sent to you separately via PM.Additionally, I’ve included a photo of my setup showing the cabling and current display status.I kindly ask you to review this case and provide further assistance. Thank you in advance for your support!
Best regards,
5h4d0w

Alright, I’ve decided to return the device and simply order a new one. Let’s see if the issue still occurs — hopefully not, and I’ll finally have a fully functional OLED display. t think that the best way 🙂 thx for support
