Hey ROG crew, been testing out this fan game I found here:
It's a pretty fun take on the classic, but I've noticed some really strange behavior on my system when I play it. My monitoring software shows some serious, sharp power spikes from my GPU that I don't see even in AAA titles. Wondering if anyone else has seen this with indie or fan-made projects before.
Game Information
Name: Plants vs Zombies Fusion
Source: From the link provided above
Type: Fan-made project
My System Specifications
PSU: ROG THOR 1200W Platinum II
GPU: ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090
CPU: Intel i9-13900K
Motherboard: ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO
Observed Power Behavior
Idle power draw is completely normal.
Standard gameplay shows expected power usage for a 2D title.
During certain in-game events, like large waves of zombies or specific plant food effects, my GPU power spikes to its maximum transient limit.
The system is stable and hasn't crashed, but the sharpness of the spikes is a bit concerning.
Is this something the Thor is designed to handle without any issue, or could these kinds of potentially unoptimized power demands from a non-commercial game cause long-term stress on the components? It just seems odd that this particular title would cause such a reaction from the hardware.
Any thoughts or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
