Hello! Proud owner of the RoG 9. It's pretty great to start with and generally am very happy. I'm planning to make some quick succession posts to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to change / fix some problems I discovered.
First issue I have is the Game Genie tries to be smart about remembering the brightness you set an app to and restores that as soon as you return to the app. I don't want that.
Scenario: I go out to play Pokemon Go in the bright sun. So I have maxed brightness to see my screen. I complete the Pokemon Go event, turn off my game, go home and have dinner. It is now past sunset. As I use my phone for other things like texting, emailing, and browsing, I have dimmer my display to 25%. As I go to bed, I think to do a task in Pokemon Go. I launch the app and it immediately goes back to 100% brightness.
The reverse is also happening where I last used an app in the dark and set at low brightness, and even though the phone outside of game genie is set to be bright, the screen will dim as soon as I launch that remembered app.
I fail to see where the benefit is to restore brightness to something drastically different from the current "global" brightness setting. Can game genie's "brightness" memory be disabled?
It might also try to have a volume memory. Not sure.
A separate volume issue I have is I set YouTube to be associated with Game Genie. Not sure if I like it yet, but the idea of email notifications not blocking the screen sounds great. But I noticed when watching the app in full screen (whether video in landscape mode full screen or app in portrait mode with comments and video description displayed) the sound is quiet. Barely a whisper at the lowest increment. That can be okay!
The problem is when I use the home button and youtube jumps out to Picture-in-Picture / floating window player. The volume automatically adjusts to being louder. I checked and the volume slider is one notch above silent when that happens. I don't know how to fix this. I just want it to maintain the same volume. I do not see any settings among the AudioWizard or any indication that Sound Redirect is turning on or off when it flips to floating window.
Note, youtube does have a self-contained PiP feature where the video can be in a mini window as you navigate elsewhere inside the app. This means Youtube as an app is still the active foreground app. The volume does not change. It is only as soon as the Youtube process is no longer the foreground app that the volume changes, whether I see the Asus Launcher or my web browser or whatever else.
Edit: I have the answer for the brightness lock. In the armory crate sections, there is a setting for function order customization. You can edit the Toggles which has 14 items for me. The game genie when in use only shows 12 of them (2 "pages" of 2x3 arrays). I moved brightness lock to the top of the list, went back to YouTube app, and it let me disable the brightness lock which is enabled by default. It immediately shifted to the "global" brightness I had set.
Provblem is I can't manage to restore the arrangement of controls. When I made Brightness Lock visible, I lost the option to see X Mode toggle. And there is a Scout Mode I wanted to activate to see what that does, but it doesn't appear no matter if it's at top, middle, or bottom of the toggle list in settings. I have not exhaustively checked if I need to restart the YouTube app to refresh game genie's rendering of controls will update the toggles, or if YouTube is simply not an app supporting those features and that trying different apps will show them again.
