Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro - Bottom USB-C File Transfer Not Working

The bottom USB-C port on my phone cannot be detected as a means to transfer files by either Windows PC I've plugged it into. The side port may be used, but only on one of my computers (weirdly, neither port works on an Asus laptop I have.) By extension, the bottom port cannot be used for peripherals (mouse/keyboard) and can only be used to charge the phone.

I have verified that 'File Transfer' was selected in the 'USB Preferences' menu, used the cable that came with the phone, tried using other ports on the computers, and tried restarting both PCs and the phone, to no avail. 'USB Debugging' has also been unchecked in developer options.

Strangely, the cable that came with the phone did not work in either port out of the laptop it was plugged into, but an old USB-A to USB-C cable I've had plugged into the desktop for a long time worked with only the side port.

There's a reddit post from like 10 years ago advising that as a last resort, you could do a factory reset and hope that the firmware is installed properly this time, which I'd rather not do, but support isn't awake right now so I'm here.

If anybody has run into this and knows a fix for it, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Note: After typing the above, I connected the phone to a different android phone via both the bottom and side ports- no issue. Could it be that windows 10 doesn't play nice with Android 14? I don't know, but the old phone is recognized by the computers just fine, so I also don't know what that's about.

Maybe try another USB cable?
