Strix Scope RX won't update firmware

Rasalom

So as the title says, I just got a new ROG Strix Scope RX and went to update the firmware via Armory Crate, and it fails, giving me an Error Code 4181.

I've tried all of the following and keep getting errors after I try to update the firmware.

-reinstall armory crate.

-reinstall armory crate, restart.

-unplug keyboard, restart.

-uninstall keyboard from device manager, restart.

-uninstall keyboard from device manager, unplug keyboard, restart.

-reinstall Armory Crate, and try updating the keyboard before I update Armory Crate.

-reinstall Armory Crate, and try updating the keyboard AFTER I update Armory Crate.

-look for a stand alone firmware update for the keyboard on Asus.com.

At this point, I'm at a loss.  I purchased this keyboard specifically so I could use macros and have it sync with the RGB on my PC.  At this point, I can't even get the macro function to come up in Armory Crate simply because I can't get the keyboard firmware to update.

Update:  For whatever reason, when I disconnected the keyboard from my KVM, and connected it directly to my PC it allowed me to update the firmware.  However, if I'm not mistaken, it doesn't appear that there was a new firmware version (currently at 2.00.07) so I'm not sure what it was actually doing.

The KVM allows full use of the keyboard, macros, and Aura Sync, so I'm not exactly sure how it was interfering with the update process.

Hi @Rasalom ,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Based on your description, if you have tried the following steps:

  • Completely uninstalling and reinstalling the Armoury Crate software
  • Trying different connection methods

But the problem persists, please provide the Armoury Crate log for our detailed analysis.

The log files contain detailed information about the software's operation, which can help our backend team identify the issue.
Please ensure that the logs accurately capture the moment the issue occurs. (Please enable logging, perform the problematic operation once, and then package the logs.)
Here are the steps to collect Armoury Crate log files: Please refer to Q5: What is APP Diagnostics? https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1043747/#a14

After completing the above steps, please upload the collected log files to a cloud storage service and provide the link along with the approximate time and method of operation via private messege for our analysis.
Also, please provide your product serial number.
We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Every time I get an error from Armory Crate, I click on the submit button to send in a log.  Also, I need to unplug my keyboard as the install seems to render it non active.

Regarding your Armoury Crate firmware update issue, please follow these steps to confirm:

  1. Enter the update center: Open the Armoury Crate software and enter the "Update Center" page.
  2. Confirm update prompts: If the update center page does not display any buttons requiring updates, it means that your firmware is already the latest version.
