ROG Claymore II - battery issue

The other day, the I key on my Claymore II started functioning intermittently.  A few days later, the backslash key was sticking on after pressing another key.  Then the QWERTY and ASDFGH lines cut out completely.  I did some searches and found references to the internal battery swelling, causing the metal shield to come into contact with the main circuit board.  I bought my keyboard 18 months ago, so being out of warranty, I decided to take it apart and find out what was going on.  Sure enough, the battery had swollen.  I removed it and reassembled the keyboard.  It works perfectly now, with the exception of being able to use it wirelessly.

This is a major issue and potentially a fire hazard.  I have seen a lot of posts from people with the same problem, and it makes me wonder if any fires have been caused by these batteries rupturing.  I call on Asus to issue an immediate recall for the Claymore II keyboard.
