Asus ROG Strix Scope II 96 - Firmware update not working

I got myself a new  Asus ROG Strix Scope II 96 wireless keyboard today.

I followed the instructions in the manual and the first thing I did after plugin in the keyboard was to install the Armoury Crate software and update the firmware of the keyboard.

The Armory Crate detects that there is a new firmware version available and I can see it here:

Then I follow the rest of the instructions:

The keyboard is already in wired mode via USB, and I connect the USB dongle into another USB port of my PC:

However, when I click on "OK" nothing happens. The update still shows as available and the firmware version of my keyboard is still 5.00.02

I have also tried to uninstall the Armoury Crate software using the Uninstall Tools and then reinstalled the software, but the same issue remains.

Please help, this is my first experience with Asus devices and first time using the Armoury Crate software. I was  also told that the latest firmware version includes latency improvements and I really want to get my keyboard properly updated and working.

To update your ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless with Armoury Crate:

1) Connect the cable to your keyboard and a pc usb port.

2) Set the wireless switch on your keyboard to wired mode (switch set to the center position).

3) Connect the wireless dongle to a pc usb port.

4) Do the update in Armoury Crate.

Make sure you've updated to the ROG Omni Receiver.

I have tried that a dozen times to no avail. As well as most other people here it seems. Unfortunately, it does not work. It must be a bug.

Ok,

If you're not able to update to the ROG Omni Receiver through Armoury Crate, uninstall Armoury Crate and install Armoury Crate Gear, then do the firmware update to update to the ROG Omni Receiver.

1) Uninstall Armoury Crate from windows, it will launch the Armoury Crate uninstaller.

2) Reboot your PC.

3) Install Armoury Crate Gear. - ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless | Gaming keyboards｜ROG - Republic of Gamers｜ROG Global (asus.com)

4) Do the firmware update to update to the ROG Omni Receiver.

5) Uninstall Armoury Crate Gear.

6) Reboot your PC.

7) Install Armoury Crate version 3.2.11.2, go to the update center and check for updates. - Armoury Crate - Support (asus.com)

That appears to have worked. However, after opening ROG OMNI RECEIVER (version 1.0.0.7) the firmware version was displayed as 3.00.07 and there was no way to update it (so I assume this is already the most up-to-date version). After opening ROG STRIX SCOPE II 96 WIRELESS (version 1.0.1.4) the firmware was prompted to update from version 4-something to 7.00.01 and it DID update successfully. So, thank you! Now I'll uninstall these "gear" apps and install ARMOURY CRATE. It would be REALLY nice if these apps could coexist with each other without causing issues. Or, at least if it were made clear that only one type should be installed.

Is there anywhere to view what has changed in the firmware updates? Any patch notes?

Thank you ! Updating the dongle through Armory Crate Gear worked. Then I uninstalled Armory Crate Gear and reinstalled Armory Crate 3.2.11.2 and the keyboard update worked directly.

Before updating the Omni Receiver in Armoury Crate Gear, It did not appear in the devices of Armoury Crate.  I spent nearly 3h to figure out how to update everything .. and your solution did the trick ! Thanks again mate !

Now I have these firmware versions :  ROG STRIX SCORE II 96 WIRELESS updated to 7.00.01 and OMNI RECEIVER updated to 6.00.19

The firmware update updates the keyboard and wireless dongle to support the ROG Omni Receiver, that's basically it.

Once you get Armoury Crate installed, go to the update center and check for updates.

If you have any updates for your keyboard, follow these steps to update it.

1) Connect the cable to your keyboard and a pc usb port.

2) Set the wireless switch on your keyboard to wired mode (switch set to the center position).

3) Connect the wireless dongle to a pc usb port.

4) Do the update in Armoury Crate.
