[Zephyrus G16 2025] High-Pitched Coil Whine when Battery Cap (80%) is reached - Even when OFF

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or to see if others are experiencing this with the new 2025 Zephyrus G16. I’ve encountered a persistent and very annoying coil whine issue that seems specifically tied to the battery charging state.

The Issue: Whenever my battery hits the charging limit (I use G-Helper to cap it at 80%), the laptop begins emitting a high-pitched electrical buzzing/coil whine.

The Specifics:

  • The Trigger: It only starts once the battery reaches the 80% threshold. If it's actively charging (e.g., at 50%), it's silent.

  • The Problem: The noise persists even when the laptop is completely shut down, as long as the power cable is plugged in.

  • The Only Fix: Unplugging the AC adapter or changing the charge limit to 100% (which I don't want to do for battery health reasons).

What I’ve Tried:

  • Switching between the slim power port and USB-C charging (whine persists on both).

  • Updating BIOS to the latest version.

  • Disabling CPU Boost in G-Helper (helps slightly when the laptop is ON, but does nothing when it's OFF).

It seems like the power delivery system is "pulsing" or struggling to maintain the cap, creating audible resonance.

My Questions:

  1. Is anyone else with the 2025 G16 hearing this at their battery cap?

  2. Are there any BIOS settings (like ErP or C-States) that have successfully silenced this for you without sacrificing battery health?

  3. Should I consider this a "normal" characteristic of this year's VRMs, or is this grounds for an RMA?

I really love the machine, but I need the coil whine off at all times, especially when I'm trying to sleep and the laptop is "off" on my desk.

Thanks in advance for any help!

It is recommend that you first uninstall G-Helper and reinstall ASUS Armoury Crate to manage battery and power settings, in order to rule out any issues caused by third-party software.
Also, please ensure you are using the original ASUS charger and plug the power directly into a wall outlet (avoiding extension cords) to eliminate any impact from unstable power supply.
Afterward, please observe whether the issue still persists.

I have already tried both steps:

  1.  I uninstalled G-Helper and set the 80% limit in My Asus. The noise is exactly the same.
  2. Wall Outlet: I am using the original charger plugged directly into a grounded wall outlet. No change.
