Zephyrus G16 2024 Shutting down when under load

Just wanted to shout out into the ether to see if anybody else here is having a similar issue. I've got the 185h and 4090 model and whenever load sits around 175watts for a few minutes the computer just shuts down. The CPU temps are around 85-90c and the GPU temps are around 75-80c. I've got the dynamic boost set to 20w on the GPU.. all CPU cores are active, HT is on.

That being said i've tried to do everything i can think of to prevent the shutdown. Pulled the GPU wattage back and dialed the dynamic boost to 5 watts. Turned off HT, disabled Ecores and even tried playing with a few Pcores being off. The point is that regardless of heat load the laptop still turns off. I've tried a different power supply. I've even repasted the CPU/GPU with PTM7950 which improved temps by a few degress but nothing earth shattering and obviously no help in figuring out whats wrong.

My brain is lead to believe that its a power delivery issue on the mainboard because of a weird behavioral quirk i noticed about the problem.

On a cold boot the computer will shut down, without fail, after playing a game for a few minutes. However after the shutdown if i quickly turn the computer back on i can get a few hours of gaming in without issue.

Needless to say none of this should be happening. I keep seeing too many posts with people suggesting to turn cores off and pull back on power to keep the laptop running. The power on the GPU has already been nerfed by ASUS.. this PC should not be shutting down out of the box when set to Turbo in AC or any other setting for that matter. If the fix is to further nerf the computer to keep it running its a defective unit, period.

Anyway, anybody else experiencing this?

Hi @Tron_Chaser ,

Based on your description, if the system shuts down while the CPU and GPU temperatures are still within the normal range, it is unclear if you have updated the BIOS to the latest version and are using ASUS-verified display drivers
If the issue persists even after restoring BIOS to default settings and using ASUS-verified drivers, we recommend sending the laptop to a local service center for further hardware diagnostics to identify the problem. Thank you.

My Strix Scar 16 2023 with RTX 4080 has recently started randomly shutting down in the middle of games.
