Upgrading SSD in ROG Strix SCAR 18 (G834JYR) – Compatibility with 4TB/8TB Samsung P9100 Pro

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to upgrade the SSD in my ROG Strix SCAR 18 (model G834JYR with an i9-14900HX and RTX 4090). Specifically, I’d like to install a 4TB or 8TB Samsung P9100 Pro NVMe SSD that comes with a heatsink.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. Will the M.2 slot in this laptop physically accommodate the thickness of the P9100 Pro with its heatsink, which is about 8.8mm or 11.25mm?

    Spoiler

  2. Also, does the laptop officially support installing an 8TB SSD, or is there a recommended capacity limit (like 4TB) that I should be aware of?

I’d appreciate any insights or experiences from the community. Thanks in advance!

@dr-afshinmehr
The G834JYR has two SSD slots, with a maximum supported capacity of 2TB per slot.
If you plan to install or upgrade to an SSD larger than 2TB, we cannot guarantee its stability and compatibility.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

glad to report I have a   4TB samsung and 2TB Samsung M.2 Nvme 2280 drives and both work well without problems. Both were single sided. I am not sure If double sided drives will be fine...maybe someone can enlighten us here.
