Unable to enter bios or boot menu to reinstall windows 11 (black screen)

I have an old 2018 Asus Rog Zephyrus GU502GV and recently it blue screened on me after some windows 11 files got corrupted (something about winloader just being missing) and that I needed to reinstall windows 11. So I turned off my machine and created a bootable usb with windows 11, however, whenever I bot up my laptop, the keyboard backlights turn on, the battery and power icons turn on, but I just have a black screen

I can’t do anything and I’m unable to enter BIOS to set the boot location to my usb so I both: Don’t have a proper OS on my machine, and I can’t access bios at all.

At one point I restarted my machine and managed to get to the boot menu and when selecting “uefi firmware settings” my computer turns off, turns on again, and I’m back to a black screen. Is it officially over for this laptop? Or is there a way we can fix this? Thanks.

Hi @Cr3 ,

Please try removing all external devices and the power source while the laptop is powered off. Then, press and hold the power button for 40 seconds to perform an EC reset. Afterward, reconnect the power and test to see if there is any improvement. If the issue persists, based on your description, we recommend sending the laptop to your local service team for further hardware diagnostics. Thank you.

Unfortunately this did not work, is there any keyboard shortcuts that I can use to essentially access GRUB or anything else I can do before sending it in for repair? I want to atleast force grub to display, I just want something to display to be honest as the asus rog logo doesn’t display either

Hi @Cr3 ,

Since there might be a hardware failure, you can try connecting an external monitor to check if it displays anything.

This can help determine whether it's a screen issue or another hardware problem. Thank you.
