Got this computer about 2 months ago and may have had this problem all along. While playing games or streaming or just playing MP3s directly, the right speaker will sometimes become muffled, sometimes just a few decibels, sometimes a LOT. Turning the speakers off and on from the windows control panel will immediately restore the right speaker but then it will randomly get muffled again. This is easily tested from the windows tester where it plays the test tones where, once the speaker becomes muffled from one source, it also affects the speaker test as well. Because disabling/enabling the speakers from the control panel resolves the issue temporarily I don't think it's a bad speaker or connection.
All drivers/BIOS are up to date and I tried reinstalling the audio driver as well as reverting from the latest NVidia driver to the one on the Asus website but the problem remains. I've also tried disabling Dolby Atmos with no luck.
Any advice to try to diagnose the issue?

Hi @Skywise ,
I would like to confirm if you have tried reinstalling the speakers drivers in Device Manager and update the Cirrus SmartAMP driver to version V23.26.47.760 to see if the issue improves.Thank you.

Reinstalled both the speaker drivers and the Cirrus Smart AMP driver. Both looked to be up to date already. Still getting the muting after a minute or so of playing some music streams on YouTube.
Speakers are Microsoft Driver, date 5/6/2022, version 10.0.22621.1
Cirrus Logic Awesome Speaker Amps Driver date is 2/17/2023 and version is 18.23.45.309

BTW - I'm testing using this youtube video. I've yet to be able to play it all the way through without the right speaker getting muted.

G834JYR here and seeing the same issue. If I adjust the balance you can tell the speaker is still active just playing at a muted level. (Also playing with the balance seems to make the speaker kick back in) Dolby atmos off/on seems to have no affect.

Lol - then right after I post my reply I find an iphone video I made that does it everytime in seconds. This confirms to me that it's not a hardware problem (pretty sure, anyway). I'm just using the windows 11 Movies & TV app and the audio will always start out with both speakers playing, then the right will cut out/go muffled after a bit. Then if I play another video, it'll start out with both speakers.
