Hi all,
I have the ROG Strix scar 18 2023 model, G834JZR - purchased in March 2023
Right off the bat had bad microstutters with any/all use, even simple web browsing. Chalked it down to early bios, new build etc and tried to wait it out. Stuttering never fully went away. Latencymon has been run multiple times and shows obvious lag spikes, and points to cpu throttling as likely culprit. HWinfo shows CPU frequently hits 96F, even on just bootup and only startup programs allowed to run.
After extensive reviews of forums, reddit and updating all possible drivers/software, I'm convinced the CPU thermal throttles randomly and causes the microstutters. Is this an issue with thermal paste and is this why only some laptops are affected ? It drives me insane that a >$3.5k laptop would basically be so painful to use. So many threads on the issue, but ROG doesn't seem to be able to fix it. Ive updated to every new bios available - on 320.
And lets add the wonderful new thing Ive noticed this month - GPU thermal throttling as well. Temp hits 90s, throttles down wattage aggressively and fps goes from 120 to 10 in BO6. Unusable as a gaming laptop which is tragically bad.
Happy to share any details needed, if someone wants to see it. If anyone has found a fix for this, please be our savior and let us know.

Customer service recommended installing rog specific nvidia drivers and intel graphics drivers
Couldn't even launch COD as driver was far too outdated. So back to square one.
