Second SSD card to Asus ROG G752VS-GC003T

Oohst

Hi everyone,

I’m still happy with my Asus ROG G752VS-GC003T, although I would like more SSD space. I'm just not sure what’s the smart thing to do and I'm afraid to buy something that is not compatible after reading some of the comments on this forum.

I was hoping if anyone who’s more knowledgeable could point me in the right direction. Things I’m not sure about:

  • Do new SSD cards work in this laptop? For instance the Samsung 980 Pro (or 990 pro) cards?.
  • And/or would this be overkill and are there other alternatives I should go for?
  • Does it make sense to add a second (new) card, or are there any benefits if I replace the current one?
  • Or should I maybe just look for a new laptop all together?

My main goal is not to increase speed although that would be a nice to have. My main goal is to have more room to safe some games on my current system.

I am sorry, but this is plain misinformation. First of all a quick google search will reveal that this laptop was sold with 1TB NVME drives in certain configurations.

And generally speaking, there are no firmware limitations on NVME drive size. This laptop have two limiting factors and that is PCIE 3.0 x4 speed and no room for 22110 form factor drives. And the second one is highly irrelevant considering practically every NVME ssd is 2280 size or smaller.

If @Oohst want to purchase a 4TB 3.0 x4 (4.0 and 5.0 are backwards compatible as well) that drive will work at 3.0 x4 speeds. These days a 4.0 x4 drive might be the cheaper choice due to demand.

I appreciate you two took the time to give an answer. It seems I was overthinking things a little.
