S, Z, X keys are not working

My S, Z, X keys are not working on my ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (2020) F506IH laptop. How can I fix this? I have tried reinstalling Windows and updating the BIOS. What could be the solution? Please tell me. I have seen many TUF users with the 2020 model having the same problem. Is it a software problem or hardware issue? Also, if I replace the keyboard, what is the price?

I think they did this for faster production which is one of the key reasons I'll personally opt out of buying another Laptop, I'd rather stick with a PC, the only reason you should buy an Asus Laptop is for travelling use because heavy use on a laptops keyboard will result in this issue and with no way to fix it other than buying a USB keyboard which isn't very consumer friendly, a PC would be the better option. Before they use to make their Keyboards consumer friendly by having easy release latches which many people were fond of, the change appears to simply be for productivity reasonings which from a business standpoint is understandable and a great way to make some fast cash, but when people eventually catch on they'll opt out from buying such devices forcing the company to revert back to the old business model of consumer friendly practices. This is why I previously suggested Asus have a lifetime warranty on Keyboards because they aren't interchangeable by consumers.

This would solve a lot of future headaches sales wise, even if they offered fixes at a reasonable price I think most people would be ok with this but I've seen charges from $500-$1000+ which on top of a $1500-$5000 purchase is quite honestly disrespectful. I've seen these issues from folks around the 2 year mark or just after which ironically is right after warranty ends for most folks further indicating anti-consumer practices as it appears the keyboards were designed to last a length of time just outside of warranty. Whether or not this was intentional doesn't matter, the fact of the matter is that it's happening to many people whom see heavy use out of their laptops all within the same timeframe and the whole purpose of a gaming laptop is meant to be for heavy gaming use. This would be less of an issue if the Keyboards were interchangeable by consumers using the previous latch method but since we are unable to change it ourselves of course that's going to lead to negative reviews of said products in the future.

In my country, a brand-new original keyboard with backlight cost only $10. But after seeing the fix guide, I don't think its possible(or even worth the time and risk) to fix. I'd rather get a dumb external keyboard.

Well, at least I know that's a hardware issue now. Thanks!

I don't think it's worth the risk because it does take some serious skill and could damage your laptop, however losing a USB slot to an external keyboard is quite frustrating by my own personal experience I must say, I miss my Backlit Keyboard and the fact I cannot change it without purchasing special tools and risking destruction of my product is a solid reason as to why I won't be purchasing a laptop in the future despite having otherwise mostly enjoyed my experience with Asus Laptops, there is only one other issue I've had with the laptop and that is Microsoft Windows related not Asus related although I and many others initially thought it was Asus related so in reality the only issue Asus has to resolve is reverting back to making laptops with interchangeable keyboards versus ones that are not, or offer a lifetime warranty on a product they know will become defective under heavy use which most gamers would assume is a key feature of gaming laptops.

It's not about replacing the keyboard in your laptop, because the issue would remain. When the computer is not working under pressure, f.e. when surfing websites, the keys work. It happens only when all hardware is in use, like in games. So that's definitely a software issue. ASUS please do something. A gaming laptop with problems with crucial keys like S, Z and X is kind of a joke.

It's a hardware issue. Had my keyboard replaced with an original part...keyboard+palmrest and all the issues are gone. The thing is it doesn't fail totally and will kind of work when the hardware is cold. Most likelly , a bad connector somwhere on the keyboard.

I have the same problem, the "Z" "X" "C" buttons stop working, but after reinstalling Windows everything starts working. After a while, the problem repeats. I noticed that the problem occurs when nvidia experience updates the video card drivers, if you download the latest version of the drivers manually and install them yourself, then this problem does not occur

That cannot be the cause. I do not use Nvidia Experience to install drivers. I don't use windows at all. At first the problem was intermittent and then after a while became permanent. None of the drivers I manually installed have fixed the problem.
