Hi there, I recently bought this new Zephyrus g16, but always have the same issue when trying to play almost any game. I have had the computer for 2 days, and any time the gpu is under any type of load, the whole computer just turns itself off, Fans, Lights, everything. If I hold the power button, It will reboot as if I had shut it down.
This is my second computer of this exact type that has done this. The first one I bought around 2 weeks ago, and it had the same issue, so I sent it back. Within 10 min of setting this one up, installing a game and loading it, It has the same issue.
I know little about computers, I'm not sure what could be causing the problem.

Yes, my pervious computer was the exact same type. I've tried 2 2024 zephyrus g16 that both crash out of the box.

Well I had same but with Rog Strix, tried two models and its been crashing random, sometimes whole day worked fine but then x times in row crashed, so I returned it to store, maybe you should do same and look for MSI, Acer because it looks like Asus bug and there is no info from them

Thanks for the help, I did try that solution, It seems to have helped, but just crashed again. I'm pretty sure I'll return the computer, and try a different brand. I've always had Asus computers, Its rather disappointing this one seemingly is just so poorly manufactured.

Hi @cinnapie
Was it the same game that was crashing? To get the same behaviour on two units is far more likely to be an issue at the software level in my experience.

This is software or hardware bug that affects many models (Intel and AMD, so it doesnt depend on CPU) and has been around for at least few months. I dont understand why you still sell them and there is no official information about it.
There are many reports about this, people have tried official drivers as well as the latest ones, different settings and nothing helps.

Hi there, on this particular computer I have only tried one game. I will try different ones now and get back to you.

Update, I've done some testing, and the problem persists across multiple games. It only occurs when a game puts a heavy load on the computer. When I turn graphics down to min, and keep games limited to 30 fps, there's no crashes. anything that puts a heavy load on the computer (i.e., the fans start getting noticeably louder and the computer begins to heat much faster, but still within 85 degrees c), there is a full backscreen crash every 2-3 hours with seemingly all the computers systems shutting down together. This is similar to my previous computer of the model, leading me to believe (without credentials, I again know only basics about computers) that there is a design flaw, possibly with the power system not providing enough power to the system, though again, don't quote me on that.
The computer works fine when not playing any games or capping fps at 30, but needless to say, for a $2,000 rig, that's unacceptable. Unless I can find a true fix soon, I'll have to exchange the computer for a different model. Hope this helps anyone facing the same issue, sad that after having ASUS computers for so long this one appears to have some serious problems.
