ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) freezes on startup

Help please.

I have just purchased the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 (2023) and after a week or so started to freeze on Windows startup and a couple of times on shout down. All drivers were updated and also ran hardware checks as well as a memory diagnostic check. No problem here. The notebook works fine when it gets through the initial startup and can work on it for hours with  no problems.

Has anybody an idea on what it could be?

Well this is fun…my laptop keeps freezing here this evening and when I do manage to log in the black box in the centre of the screen telling me I’m in ‘default mode’ keeps flashing up every 30 seconds.

Sorry to hear that Jonny.

Forget everything, update new Nvidia drivers, and all windows updates. Delete AMD adrenaline and drivers. Than go to https://www.amd.com/en/support and download windows drivers. Now we are going to do something different. Before instaing AMD junks, select "minimal install' from the install type.

And wait. Than Restart it.

Then plase write your experiences.

In short, I downloaded all the updates from everywhere - Windows, Macos and Armoury Crate - there are no system freezes, but there is a flicker of the screen.

Turned my laptop on today…keeps telling me I’m in default mode every 30 seconds again. I’ve finally decided enough is enough. I’m going to reset it and take it back to the shop. REPUBLIC OF GAMERS. DARE TO DREAM…THAT YOUR LAPTOP ACTUALLY WORKS. 😞

Actually you are lucky to do that because I can’t even return back newyork and refund my device.

by the way yes, where this default thing came from ? Armoury crate or Amd adrenaline ?

Not that lucky my friend…they would only give me a refund if it was within 30 days so they are sending it off for repair. I said, “good luck with that!” I’m assuming it will come back saying that they can’t find anything wrong with it and still freezing up. Let’s see.
