ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2025) SSD Upgrade

Painkiller78

Hi everyone,

I ordered the new ROG Strix SCAR 18 G835LX because it's time to upgrade my GeForce RTX™ 2070. My keyboard also has a hardware issue with the T key.

Since 2TB of internal storage isn't enough for me, I want to upgrade that too!

So I wanted to ask if the new Samsung 9100 Pro (Gen5) SSD with heatsink (8.8 mm according to the specifications) fits in the new ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2025) G835LX to keep it cooler.

The G835LX comes with two SSD slots . Each slot supports up to 2TB.

Here are the brand models that we have tested for your reference. Thank you.

That wasn't the question I wanted to know!

But do I understand correctly that you can only fit two 2TB SSDs (4TB) into the laptop, which costs €5,300?

The real question is: will the new Samsung 9100 Pro SSD with heatsink fit in the laptop?

We are currently checking with the technical team whether SSDs with heatsinks can be used.

We will update you once we have further information. Thank you.

Good morning, do you have information whether the Samsung 9100 PRO drive with heatsink fits the G835LX laptop?

Good morning from me too, I'm also waiting for an answer from Anbby_ROG as to whether the 9100 PRO drive with heatsink fits so that I can finally place an order for it.

Hi @Painkiller78  @0SM0 ,

Thank you for your patience!
Based on the dimensions provided on the Samsung official website, we have further confirmed that the Samsung 9100 Pro (Gen5) SSD with heatsink cannot be installed due to size limitations. This information is provided for your reference. Thank you.

Okay, thank you very much for the information @Anbby_ROG.

Since the 9100 Pro with heatsink doesn't fit right now, I'll be installing the 9100 Pro without.

My next question is:
Is it possible to fit more than just 2x2TB SSD's into the SCAR 18 G835LX?
I'd like to fit 2x4TB SSD's if possible!

Could you test if that's possible?

Please, and thank you in advance for the detailed answer!

Thank you for your reply. After confirmation, the internal space and airflow of the G835LX SSD slot are sufficient for installing 2x4TB SSDs.
However, please note that due to the large number of SSD brands and models currently available on the market, we are unable to test compatibility one by one. If you encounter any issues after replacing with non-original memory, we recommend that you try testing with the original memory or brands and models that we have verified for use. The above information is provided for your reference. Thank you.

Hi. Have you tried Samsung 9100 pro? Want to know how fast test speed? Gen5 speed may vary.
