ROG Strix G531GT Power Issues after installing a hard drive

Recently I installed a new hard drive to my RoG Strix laptop after receiving a cable to connect it to the HDD connector and before this my laptop worked fine (with the exception of keyboard having some keys not work but I just used an external keyboard) without any battery issues but after I installed the hard drive and reassembled the laptop it just would not turn on without it being plugged into the charger

Process:

1. Disassembled my laptop

2. Put the hard drive in the holder with some loose screws since I wouldn't be moving it off my desk

3. Checked if my laptop registered the hard disk (it did) without it being plugged in

4. Closed lid and reassembled the back

5. Tried to turn on laptop with power button but wouldn't turn on but if I connected my charger it would automatically turn on without power button pressed

I tried several things to fix this issue since I find it annoying such as reinstalling driver, updating windows, held power button without battery to clear any power, checked myasus battery health and it would say healthy, etc but nothing would help

I am sure the battery was not the issue since it was healthy prior to this and it might of been a short circuit since one of the screws fell off as I turned over the keyboard after reassembled

Based on the information you provided, please check if the battery connector is properly connected and try resetting the BIOS to see if that improves the situation. If the problem persists, we recommend taking the laptop to a local service center for further hardware diagnostics to identify the issue. This information is for your reference. Thank you!

Hi, Sorry for the day reply but after a while I was just using it a bit annoyed that my power was having issues.

But I noticed that my battery was still recognized by the laptop and when I disconnected the battery there would be a orange light on the keyboard indicating it was not charging the battery as oppose to the white light whenever it was connected. So I believe my battery is fine but maybe a motherboard issue. After a while I noticed my games ran like ****** and tried to set them to high performance on my graphics card and after going through that I noticed my Nvidia GPU did not pop up and confused I looked at both device manager and task manager and noticed that my Nvidia GTX 1070 completely disappeared off them. Before I noticed that I disassembled my laptop and found a screw stuck between the heat stink for the cpu or gpu and the motherboard and I assume it had been short circuiting my laptop into automatically booting up without the button being pressed but sadly it wasn't it. So far I am considering resetting my laptop to see if it might be a software issue otherwise I might have to go see if it can be fixed at repair shop
