rog strix g16 gaming laptop (2024) g614 problem with game crashing code 0xc0000005

Hi everyone,

I’m running into a persistent crash with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on my ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2024). The game launches but eventually crashes with the following error in Event Viewer:

Faulting application name: gotg.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x63d2fef5 Faulting module name: gotg.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x63d2fef5 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00000000007d6da2 Faulting process id: 0x70FC Faulting application start time: 0x1DC29FEE308930A Faulting application path: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy\bin\gotg.exe Faulting module path: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy\bin\gotg.exe Report Id: 9ea6a4a4-1130-4d8d-bda0-a827ed61234a

What I’ve already tried:

  • Verified game files in Steam

  • Ran the game as Administrator

  • Disabled overlays (Steam, Discord, Xbox Game Bar, etc.)

  • Updated GPU drivers (also tried a clean install with DDU)

  • Updated Windows fully

  • Reinstalled the game

  • Reinstalled Windows completely

Despite all of this, the game still crashes with the same 0xc0000005 access violation.

Has anyone else experienced this on the ROG Strix G16, or found a reliable fix/workaround? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Have you upgraded or replaced the memory yourself?
If so, we recommend replacing the memory with the one provided by us to see if the issue improves.
If you have already tried restoring the system but the issue still exists, it may be caused by a memory access error. We recommend sending your laptop to a service center for further inspection.
