ROG Strix G16 G614JIR Keyboard Issues

Gamepro5
Level 7

I am loving this laptop. The only thing I hate about it is the keyboard. I have noticed several issues when using the keyboard. Firstly, it seems like their marketing for "Overstroke technology" was completely misleading because I cannot find any material on it. The keyboard is incredibly insensitive. I need to floor it in order for the input to be registered. This can either lead to a key not clicking or a key clicking twice. Keys will also randomly not input at all. When typing, this can result in a missed letter. When gaming, this can result in a movement action not registering at all no matter how long I keep the key pressed fully down. I noticed that if I keep pressing the broken key at maximum strength an press any other key on the keyboard, the broken key will magically come back to life.

I have recorded some videos of this happening. Refer to the video descriptions for the software used to display the problem.

The windows filter keys option changes nothing. I've uninstalled all keyboard drivers and re-installed them, no difference. I don't need to clean it as the computer is only a few months old and this has been happening since day one. I assumed it would be patched at some point but it hasn't.

I don't know if this is a software issue, but I really hope it is. The keyboard is nigh unusable in this state.
