Hello everyone,
I need some advice from the community regarding my experience with the ASUS ROG Strix G16 and whether I should switch to the new TUF Gaming F16 (2025).
I originally purchased a Strix G16 on 27th June 2024. From day one, it had noticeable coil whine, which was very distracting. After about a month of usage, ASUS approved a DOA, but the replacement/refund process took over a month, leaving me without a laptop during that time.
Recently, I decided to give it another chance and bought the same Strix G16 (4200 WS model). Unfortunately, this unit also has the same coil whining issue.
Now I’m considering my options:
Should I DOA this unit again?
Or should I cut my losses and switch to the ASUS TUF Gaming F16 (2025) instead?
On paper, the TUF F16 (2025) looks really appealing — RTX 50 series GPUs, solid performance, good thermals, and MIL-STD durability. But I’m worried that I might face the same coil whine issues and delays with support.
So I’d like to ask:
Do TUF F16 (2025) owners also experience coil whine, or is this less of a problem compared to the Strix series?
How does the reliability and support experience compare between Strix and TUF models?
Given my past experience, would you recommend switching to the TUF F16, or should I try another replacement of the Strix G16?
Any insights from current owners or ASUS support would be really helpful before I decide.
