Hey! I've been really enjoying my laptop while I had it (almost 2 years) and haven't had that many issues. It has occasionally shut down due to overheating, but I believe that was just due to clogged exhaust. I can't recall this happening before, but I can't imagine it was happening as often. I haven't been able to use my dedicated GPU on high-stress loads: gaming, AI, etc. Whenever I try, my laptop just turns off. in a fashion that's visually very similar to overheating, but it happens at any temperature, even if I under-clock it. I have rolled back drivers to defaults several times; I have tried G-Helper instead of armory to no avail. I don't dare touch turbo mode.
But if I unplug my laptop, it can handle anything I throw at it and doesn't seem to have any issue actually processing anything that would otherwise crash it. I have no clue why... I've seen a couple relevant posts around the web but haven't found a solution anywhere. Any help you could offer would be fantastic!
I believe it's the same issue as Asus Rog STRIX g15 advantage edition crashing while gaming

Hey, I’m the author of the post you tagged, I tried everything you mentioned in your post, still didn’t solve my issue.
So I think the issue is the charger itself, maybe it’s not able to provide enough power during stressful situations, when you plug in your charger the laptop doesn’t use the battery, it uses the charger as its power source.
I haven’t gone around to test this but if you do let me know what happens.

i am sure there is a hardware issue at this point. I thought it was the charger, but after replacing that variable i doubt it.
but why would it be able to use full power without difficulty when im not plugged in? as long as im on battery my hardware has no issue with the extra power

i believe this is the case. i have a 65W usb C charger that is able to power my laptop. when using the usb c there are no crashes. it only crashes when using the oem charger. sadly i dont have the funds to replace my charging block right now to fully confirm this theory. but if anyone with this laptop runs into this issue, try charging with a strong usb C

shucks. i bit the bullet and bought a brand new charger, wasn't cheap. very disappointment to find the exact same thing is still happening.
as long as i tell the software to keep under 50 watts it works fine. I'm able to set my CPU and GPU to 250watts if I'm not plugged in. but if I'm plugged in and the software is set to anything above 50, it instantly shuts off under load.
this computer is effectively heavily crippled while plugged in.

If you have already tested the ASUS certified display driver and the issue still occurs, there may be a hardware problem. Running the laptop without power may limit the operating frequency and power consumption, which could be the cause of the differences.
Please try using the ASUS certified version of the display driver to see if it improves the situation, and use MyASUS to check the hardware performance of your laptop. This information is for your reference only. Thank you.
