ROG Flow X13 official charger not working

prepostost
Level 7

I have an Asus ROG Flow x13 (GV301QE from 2021). A few weeks back, when plugging in my charger that came with the laptop it would occasionally not register/charge. It progressively got worse until it just never regonized that the charger has been plugged in (left or right usb-c port, neither work).

I figured that it was a problem with the charger itself, so I bought a new one (official asus 100W charger, same as the original one). It worked the first time I used it, so I figured that was the problem... but then it started doing the same thing. I've tried going in device manager and uninstalling/reinstalling anything charger related, no luck. I figured it was something internal (battery itself has died or motherboard issue, as I've seen a number of posts with charger problems where that was the issue), but when I use another non-asus charger (30W charger for an apple laptop) it recognizes it and charges... which makes no sense to me if it was an internal issue in my laptop itself.

Using the other charger would be all well and good, but when it is plugged in the laptop's performance tanks and it's pretty unusable. Could really use some help getting it to both charge and be usable at the same time again.

Based on your description, this issue may be related to the laptop hardware.

We recommend that you send both the laptop and the charger to your local service center for further hardware diagnostics to confirm the actual issue. Thank you!
