I am writing to bring attention to a critical issue affecting the ROG Zephyrus G15 (and potentially other ROG Laptop models), where the system experiences frequent freezes and automatic reboots. After extensive troubleshooting, I have identified what seems to be the root cause of the problem.
Identified Problem:
The issue appears to be related to the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) that is connected to the Bluetooth components. The specific device ID is:
USB\ROOT_HUB30&VID1022&PID161E&REV0000
The default setting in Power Management allows the computer to turn off this device to save power. However, this setting seems to be responsible for the system instability.
Temporary Fix:
By disabling the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option in Power Management for the USB Root Hub, the issue appears to be resolved, as I have not experienced any further freezes or reboots.
Remaining Issue:
While this workaround stops the reboots and freezes, it also disables the system’s sleep mode, which is a significant drawback. Hibernate mode is still functional, but it’s not an ideal solution for everyone.
Request:
Given the widespread nature of this issue across different Zephyrus/ROG models, I kindly request that ASUS/ROG consider releasing a BIOS update to address this problem. A permanent fix that preserves full system functionality, including sleep mode, would greatly benefit the user community.
