Replacing a dysfunctional motherboard with more advanced one.

Hello guys,

I’ve been having this issue for a while. I have an Asus Rog Strix Scar II laptop model GL504GM-ES155T which currently has a dead motherboard in it. Unfortunately, it suddenly died a few weeks ago and can’t be repaired and needs to be replaced. I’ve met someone who is willing to sell me his own Asus notebook but that one has a ASUS ROG Strix Scar II is a model GL504GV-ES047T / 15.6" FHD / i7-8750H / 16GB / 512GB SSD / RTX 2060 which has some different specs than me. The differences are that his has a stronger graphics card than mine, a RTX 2060 compared to my GTX 1060, a bigger SSD 512 compared to mine, a SSD 256GB. Other than that, everything is exactly the same as far as i know. My laptop is currently in a flawless condition despite the unfortunate motherboard issue and i’m opting to replace my dysfunctional motherboard with this one. The question is, will the motherboard fit the laptop 100% and with no issues? Or will the stronger memory and graphics card create other issues? Both laptops have the same CPU an intel i7-8750 and are of the same model GL504G.

Thank you for your time.

Hi @Enenra ,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues with your motherboard. However, to ensure the stability and proper functioning of the product, I would recommend taking your laptop to a local authorized repair center for diagnosis and repairs.

This will help avoid potential compatibility issues that could arise from attempting to replace it yourself. Thank you for your understanding.

To speed up issue identification, please provide the product model, BIOS, and driver versions, along with the troubleshooting steps you've already tried to avoid redundant checks.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately that’s not an option. Already contacted Asus about it and there’s not much that can be done in Greece (where i’m from). So i’m looking into alternatives like this option.
