PLEASE FIX THESE LONG GOING ISSUES!!!! - ZEPHRYUS G16 2024 AMD

Issue number 1:

 I'm currently running the latest ASUS provided AMD driver that i installed from the ASUS website, however it seems that the below windows driver update is force installing itself overwriting ASUS's AMD adrenalin software.

When the above driver update installs it is breaking the AMD adrenalin software, not allowing it to open. I've reinstalled the ASUS AMD adrenalin driver 4 times and this issue has reoccurred each time. Please fix by pulling the driver update from windows updates AND from the windows store!

ISSUE 2:

ADVANCED OPTIMUS still isn't working with the AMD driver that's available on the ASUS website, when  switching back from the NVIDIA RTX 4070 to the IGPU, the display goes black and the laptop has to be hard rebooted by holding down the power button. The only reason i'm using the ASUS provided AMD driver is due to the customisations they make to it e.g. Freesync color accuracy is only available on the ASUS provided driver.

ISSUE 3:

The AMD and NVIDIA Driver are very out of date. The NVIDIA driver dates back to October 2024 and the AMD Driver dates back to December 2024. PLEASE can these be updated? FSR4 and  DLSS4 support would be nice.

NOTE 4:
Could the Maximum TDP of the laptop be increased from 120 watts to 140 Watts via a bios update in the future or at least provide an option in the bios to increase it? This laptop has alot more thermal headroom the combined tdp limits allow for.

This issue has now been resolved. Thanks for your help!

For anybody else having issues with advanced optimus where their laptop would freeze when switching back from the Nvidia GPU to the AMD IGPU using the Asus graphics drivers, performing a cloud recovery fully resolved my particular issue. My issue was most likely caused due to me installing a new ssd into my laptop and then using a vanilla Windows 11 ISO image as the install, which was probably missing custom Asus modifications that they make to the windows image. So if you do plan on installing a new SSD into your Asus device as the main drive make sure you just do a cloud recovery so it installs Asus's custom windows image onto it, which contains all the necessary drivers and registry tweaks.

yo any solution yet to issue 1 and 2?

i had a similar problem where i accidently update my amd drivers from the officla amd website not the asus zephyrus support page, which then upon installing the official amd driver it fked up my igpu. problem exist where sudden random crash when watching a stream or youtube video where the screen freezes but audio plays for a while like 10 sec, before it stop. and i had to hard reset by pwoer button.

(mind you i never had any problem regarding this at all, it happens after i just decided to update my amd driver through official site rather then zephyrus support page or my asus) seeing the event veiwer it had something to do with kernal 41 and i did try to fix that but i believe its a bios mux switch problem which is software conflicted between the asus zepyrus compatible amd softwarde and the generic official one. ,i did a reinstall amd gpu driver using DDU, clean wipe armory crate/ and download all specific amd drivers fromt he zephyrus support page including bios, armory crate, firmware, amd drivers all that. during this i decided to update my windows aswell which again like u said maybe it download a generic amd driver and override my asus compatible one which fks my ****** up. right now im still testing my laptop using eco mode igpu only watching videos jsut to see if the problem still persist. (its random)

model: asus zephyrus g16 2024 (GA605WV) AMD

Update today, crash still happen. i found that my eco mode and optimized mode didnt change whatsoever. (basically its the same mode). before all this crash things happens, whenever i switch to optimized mode my egpu and igpu both SHOULD BE ON (nvidia and amd) to multitask wether its gaming, watching, etc. but since the issue, the switch from eco mode to optimized mode didnt let my egpu to activate?. i believe this is a OEM amd driver from the official site that overwrote the compatile driver specificaly for mux switch. i seriously need an update bios or driver update atleast from AC or MY Asus ASAP.

The only fix i found for 1 is to  pause windows updates so it doesn't force install the windows adrenalin driver update.
For number 2 there is no fix besides either leaving the laptop in optimus mode or updating to the generic AMD drivers from their website. But if you do that you'll lose the freesync color accuracy toggle in the amd adrenlin software and other tweaks asus have made to the driver

@Ajanni

  1. Currently, the latest version of the AMD Graphics Driver available in the ASUS website download section is V32.0.13022.1001. We recommend updating to this version to see if the issues with forced Windows Update and the AMD Adrenalin software not functioning still occur. Before installing, please use DDU to remove the existing AMD VGA driver and AMD software to avoid any residual abnormal configurations.

  2. Unless you have special requirements, we do not recommend updating the AMD/Nvidia VGA driver to the vendor’s generic version. The version provided on the ASUS official website has been jointly validated by AMD and ASUS, offering higher stability. The generic driver lacks testing for specific laptops. For new game support, you can use the Nvidia app to update the Nvidia driver separately if needed.

  3. The system’s maximum operating power, thermal thresholds, and selected power components were determined during the overall system design, so it is not possible to further increase the system’s maximum load power. Thank you for your understanding.

EDIT: I Managed to find the link on the website for my model of laptop however i noticed that in display settings the FreeSync Color Accuracy toggle is missing, which was in the previous driver and sits below the freesync premium pro toggle...

I will test that windows update issue is fixed and also the advanced optimus and get back to you.

@Falcon2_ROG

The good news is i can now confirm that issue number 1 with the windows amd adrenalin update issue has now been resolved with the latest - V32.0.13022.1001 driver.  Thanks!

However Advanced Optimus is still broken 😓  with that driver.

I just  tried downloading the latest AMD driver directly from the AMD website - 32.0.21025.1024 and i can confirm that the Advanced optimus works perfectly with that driver and it also too solves the Windows update Adrenlin driver issue. Could you guys not repackage the latest AMD driver and just release that one with the necessary ASUS customisations?

Regarding my above response about the missing Freesync color Accuracy toggle, please can this be looked into as this toggle can actually affect display color reproduction/color accuracy when freesync is enabled, Also this toggle only ever disappeared from the driver when i either installed the AMD adrenlin driver from the AMD website or when i tried installing the driver from another model of ASUS laptop like the zephyrus g14 2025 which also has the same CPU but different display ID/model.
