Hello,
There's no option to select SATA configuration in BIOS mode of my gaming laptop. In BIOS mode, there are no option for it, I have looked everywhere. Also, I am trying to use a third-party SSD (Samsung 990 Pro) to be my main drive for the OS but it is not detecting it whenever I tried to load Windows OS from flash drive onto the SSD and yes! I have already update the BIOS to the latest version 3.6 G614JIR.316.
Below is a picture of how SATA configuration option is but it is not available on my gaming laptop. Please help!
My laptop spec:
Asus ROG Strix G16 (2024) G614JIR_G614JIR
Windows 11 Home
16" inch Nebula Display with 240Hz/3ms Refresh Rate
Intel Core i9-14900HX
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8GB VRAM GDDR6
32GB RAM DDR5
Solved! Go to Solution.

After so many efforts and Google search, I was able to clone the OS to the Samsung 990 Pro using Macrium Reflect.
Everything is all good. Thanks so much for your help and effort. I really appreciate.

Hi @barbioxdogg ,
Due to uncertainty about the specifications of the Samsung 990 Pro you installed, and given that the G614JIR supports SSDs with the specifications of M.2 NVMe™ PCIe® G4x4 (up to 2TB), could you please provide a screenshot of your current BIOS or the screens you have tried operating for further confirmation?
Additionally, when installing Windows, please ensure that your Windows installation USB is correctly configured for UEFI installation. When booting from the Windows installation USB, choose "Custom Installation" to see if the SSD is listed. Thank you.

That is my BIOS screen.
Also, I am trying to install Samsung driver, that is the error I get whenever I run the setup.
As for installing Windows from USB stick, yes it is configured for UEFI installation. I used Rufus to set it up.

Hi @barbioxdogg ,
Thank you for the information provided. Could you please try disabling VMD and test to see if there is any improvement? Thank you.

I just read on the Samsung Magician website, Samsung NVMe driver does not support the 990 Pro, that was why it was not installing.
However, I disabled VMD and I still couldn't find the option for SATA configuration in BIOS.

UPDATE:
The laptop refuse to start when I disable VMD, so I had to re-enable it.

Hi @barbioxdogg ,
I'd like to confirm the main reason why you want to set the SATA configuration. Please check if there is any NVMe configuration or PCIe-related settings in the BIOS.
Additionally, you mentioned that your main goal is to make the Samsung 990 Pro SSD your primary OS drive. Please ensure that the NVMe SSD is correctly installed, try switching slots to test, and reset the BIOS settings to see if there's any improvement. Thank you.
