I have a Samson Meteor Mic which works well on my other devices and doesn't have any of its own drivers. I can't get it to work well on this computer. The computer does recognize that it exists, and it lights up and everything, but the audio quality is so much worse than my other devices it's crazy. I have made sure that the right device is selected and gone into the settings and checked all the easy solutions that I can think of (like checking other USB ports and turning things off and on again, looking around at the audio settings etc).
I tried installing a new driver via one of MoKiChU's posts but it is frankly too complicated for me to understand. I can't do it correctly. The instructions are so concise that someone like me who is a beginner doesn't know what's going on. I also don't even know if this is the correct solution.
I was able to use the Driver Store Explorer to delete a lot of the things mentioned, but then when it came time to install the new driver, I couldn't do it. I would open the "Install" button within the folder, and it would say "Windows protected your PC" and not let me open it without clicking "more info." Then I would get a command box where it said /!\ Run as administrator /!\ and I didn't know what to do, it said "press any key to continue" so I would and then it would close the box and nothing would happen. That's as far as I could get.
Clearly, I did something incorrectly, and I need my hand held throughout this process a bit because the instructions are above my head. At this point I have spent several days on this problem and I would do anything to solve it.

(also worth noting, a different USB mic that I own does seem to work with this computer, although it's not as good as the Meteor Mic. So it's not *all* USB mics that don't work with this thing)
