Good evening,
I have had this machine for about a year and have spent a lot of time off and on trying to solve the failing windows update error Download error - 0x801901f4
After a lot of digging and packet captures, I discovered that the connection was being refused on the windows update end. Further investigation led me to the reason being the bios system model containing "_<!DOCTYPE" at the end of the real name.
My question is: Does anyone know a way to change this model name so that I can avoid shipping this machine to service?
Windows reg tweak was insufficient so the connection between this station and the windows update servers is getting the name elsewhere. Also, after I changed the reg key, windows is showing the corrected name but dxdiag still reflects what the bios shows.
As a note: I have a high level of technical proficiency, so I am not afraid of any level of solution offered.
Thank you for any suggestions!

I downloaded an ISO for Win11 24H2 and did a "keep nothing" install from the ISO.
After that, and some new search terms, I found a forum that directed me to a tool (DMIEDIT)
This tool that allowed me to change the _<!DOCTYPE
I changed it to _xxDOCTYPE and I was able to index and apply windows updates.
This was a quick work around for an issue that has left this laptop on a shelf for a year.
