High temp with low load

Hi all, I'm wondering if someone can help me with something.

I recently bought a ROG Zephyrus G15 with the ultra i9 CPU, 4060 GPU, 36gb RAM and 8gb dedicated video ram.

When I have this plugged in and running just an idle game and youtube on Brave browser on performance mode, the CPU temps gets to the high 80s. The same happens on windows mode.

When I unplug it and have the exact same programs running, the CPU temp is in the mid 50s. 

Why is this? Does having it plugged in really raise the temp by up to 30degrees? 

Why is it using just so many more resources than required when plugged in? 

I've checked background tasks and nothing is causing high CPU or memory usage.
