Hi everyone,
I’ve been using a Zephyrus G14 (2024) with a Ryzen 9 8945HS, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 4070 since last year. Honestly, I expected it to perform way better than my older desktop (i3 12th gen, RTX 3060, 16GB RAM), but it hasn’t lived up to that.
When I play lighter games like Valorant or League of Legends, my FPS never goes above 240, which is frustrating considering the specs. Today, I tried Black Myth: Wukong on high settings, it ran smoothly at first, but after about 30 minutes, I started getting lag spikes. I suspect it’s thermal throttling due to overheating.
I’m feeling pretty disappointed. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with the G14 2024? Or does anyone know how to fix or optimize this laptop’s performance? Would really appreciate any help or advice.
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried using DDU to completely remove the current display driver and then installing the ASUS-validated version of the graphics driver? During gameplay, please also try setting the GPU mode in Armoury Crate to "Ultimate Mode" and the fan profile to "Turbo Mode" to see if there’s any improvement.
You mentioned that the lag spikes started after about 30 minutes of gameplay—may I ask what the temperature readings were at that time? If there are signs of overheating, we recommend bringing the device to your local service center for further inspection to help identify the root cause. Thank you.
