[HELP] Armory Crate is going nuts. One process eating resources and constantly causing errors.

If anyone can help me with this it would be appreciated. It's been going on for a long time, and I've posted to another ASUS forum asking for help and been ignored, buried under tons of other requests for help.

Recently, my Armory Crate program has begun acting up. It opens something called the 'Armory Crate User Session Helper' then immediately suspends and shuts it down. This creates so much turmoil within the system that I can't use it anymore without closing down nearly all instances of the Armory Crate service. Of course, these things restart themselves, so it's turned into a chore to even keep them inactive, and oddly enough, the program isn't on the startup programs list, so I can't just disable it, although my computer runs fine without it.

Looking at the Event Viewer, I see this:

Faulting application name: ArmouryCrate.UserSessionHelper.exe, version: 5.7.0.0, time stamp: 0x65653d07
Faulting module name: AuraPlugin.dll, version: 5.7.9.1, time stamp: 0x657aab04
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00000000001d3a32
Faulting process id: 0x3730
Faulting application start time: 0x01da431c798231c6
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\ASUS\ARMOURY CRATE Service\ArmouryCrate.UserSessionHelper.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\ASUS\ARMOURY CRATE Service\AuraPlugIn\AuraPlugin.dll
Report Id: a0f325b8-288b-490c-a464-40a939ff4dca

I'm also seeing this under .NET runtime as an error, related to the same process:

Application: ArmouryCrate.UserSessionHelper.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: exception code c0000005, exception address 00007FF88E6A3A32

There are apparently updates I could get, but any attempt to open the program to download them is canceled by this looping error, which promptly shuts everything down. Although I do not *need* AC on my laptop, it has a lot of features I'd like to use, and I don't want to have to keep wrestling with this and trying to shut it down before using my computer. I've already uninstalled it and restarted, then reinstalled to no avail, and as mentioned before, I can't keep it open long enough to update it and maybe fix it that way.

I posted on another forum that was supposedly dedicated to problems with the program, but I got no answer, and am now unable to locate the forum anymore. If I could get some help settling this matter it would be greatly appreciated.

A conglomerate of programs collectively called "Armory Crate" operates in a very inelegant way because it makes many entries in the system registry that are not removed by the program's uninstaller. This causes a vicious cycle when trying to reinstall the "Armory Crate".

Hi @TommyVR ,

I would like to confirm if your laptop model is FA506IV.

Please try removing the ASUS System Control Interface v3 driver, uninstall Armoury Crate using the uninstall tool, and then reinstall ASUS System Control Interface v3 V3.1.22.0 and Armoury Crate to see if there is any improvement. If the issue persists, we recommend resetting the system and performing a complete installation of the required drivers for testing. Thank you.

To speed up issue identification, please provide the product model, BIOS, and driver versions, along with the troubleshooting steps you've already tried to avoid redundant checks.

There is no FA in my model number. It just says 'TUF506IV - AS76'. I will try what you suggest here.

...although the link to the Asus System Control Interface that you provided here is giving me a 404 error.

I have run the uninstaller for Armory Crate three times now. It has failed three times. The link to the 'ASUS System Control Interface v3 V3.1.22.0' you supplied is giving me a 404 error. Please advise me on what I can do now.

Hi @TommyVR ,
I would like to confirm if you have tried reinstalling the system to see if that resolves the issue?
You can download the drivers from the following path: Download Center, search for your product model > Software and Utility > ASUS System Control Interface v3 Version V3.1.22.0.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you.

Nothing works, it stays on a install loop, it never gets to properly install and giver the service error. AC simply is the worst program ever made.
