(G634JY) Rebooting into dGPU causes excessive stuttering

I am on BIOS 317 and have tested the latest drivers from Nvidia as well the drivers from ASUS.  No matter what when rebooting in Windows from iGPU or Optimus mode to discrete GPU mode it causes stuttering.  Games even benchmark tools like 3dmark.

To the Forum mods:

I tried to post this in the ROG Notebook forum, but it keeps rejecting the Labels section.  Fix that as well please

Hi @mbze430 ,

Can I confirm with you if the stuttering issue occurs in every game while using the dGPU mode, or is it specific to certain games? Could you please share the 3DMark test results for the discrete graphics card mode?

Additionally, I'd like to ascertain whether this stuttering issue has recently started or if it has been present all along?

Have you tried resetting the system to see if it improves the problem? To better understand the issue you are facing, would you be able to record a video of the stuttering problem for us to further investigate? Thank you.

Regarding the labels, I noticed there are tags for "Gaming Notebooks" currently. Are you looking to add other tags as well?

I only had this laptop for 4-days.  So I only have Control and RDR2 and both games stutters  matter a fact I can't get RDR2 to get more than 35fps.  Control only happened once after a reboot it plays fine

3DMark seems fine I think

I already did the improvements from the link you gave. I haven’t resetted my system but did ddu on drivers and also haven’t reinstalled any games since it affects every game and isn’t specific to any program, happens on every program. It only happens on dgpu mode (ultimate mode that’s connected to bios) other modes like optimus, advanced optimus are working good. I have the latest bios 317 and latest nvida driver (although i tried with the asus website nvidia drivers and it still has that problem so i went back to the latest nvida drivers) games that i have tried : cyberpunk, gta 5, league of legends, dying light. It just stutters every couple frames (If the fps is higher stutters also occur more frequent every 0.5 sec instead of 1 second for example). How to recreate the problem: go into ultimate gpu mode from armory crate and go into any game/application. It will stutter. Very easy to notice also %1 fps will be nearly single digits since it stutters every second.

Hi @Rosemary ,

Thank you for providing detailed information.
I would like to confirm whether your ASUS System Control Interface v3 has been updated to the latest version V3.1.17.0. Please update to the latest version and test to see if the issue improves.
If the problem persists, would you be willing to assist by recording a video of the issue so that we can further investigate? Thank you.

I did the update, problem still occurs. In the videos on the same scene/graphical settings it it’s visible how %99 fps differ and the sudden dip in gpu usage compared to the optimus mode. And the stuttering is there on ultimate/dgpu mode and the difference is easily noticable on any game/program. Advanced optimus/optimus is butter smooth and no issues there.

Advanced optimus/optimus working properly for comparison: https://youtube.com/shorts/tdk3uT6gZJo?

Ultimate/dgpu mode causing dip in gpu usage and micro stutters. Stutters get extremely severe depening on the scene of the app. It’s effect is visible on %99 fps also can be seen on the last couple seconds of the video: https://youtube.com/shorts/aJRRhL9EEUQ?
