This Laptop came with, within MYASUS, the option to limit the battery charge at 80% max.
Then, about a Year ago, I learned that an update from Asus was available to further reduce the charge limit of the Battery at 60% to further prolong battery life.
I asked ASUS support and they told me that this update could apply also to my Laptop model so, I downloaded and applied it and have been using it since then always on max 60% charging of the battery. Most of the time, the power cable stays connected and the battery under charge (limited at 60% charging as I said).
No issues until last week when, one day, I plugged the power supply cable and the power LED did not turn on. I unplugged the power supply cable and pressed the power ON button to start the computer with the internal battery but it did not start, nothing happened.
So, I did an EC reset pressing the Power ON button for 40 seconds. Then, I plugged the power cable and the power led this time lit up as red. After waiting a few minutes, I pressed the Power ON button and the computer started but the task bar clock was off my actual time and had to SYNC it. The date was correct, it was the clock time only that was wrong.
The following day I noticed something odd... even though I had selected in MYASUS the 60% battery charging limit, when hoovering on the battery icon in the button Task Bar, the battery showed at 88% charge.... how come ?
I unplugged the Power cable and used the computer off the internal battery to get below 60% power charge.
I also noticed that, even though in Control Panel Power Options I had ASUS Recommended selected, when checking again over time I would find it swapped onto Performance on its own (whenever I would find this I would set back to ASUS RECOMMENDED).
Note, I never leave the computer on standby, always either on hybernate during the day or I shut it off for the night.
Over these 3 days, sometimes again the Power LED would not light up when I plugged the Power cable in but the computer would start if I pressed the Power ON button (and then, after the computer started the power charging LED would light up) although, each and every time when I restarted the computer, either from a previuos shut off or hybernate, the task bar clock time at restart would always be 12:00 AM and not reflect my actual time (I had to SYNC). The date, though, was correct.
The next day, still with the 60% charging limit selected in MYASUS I inserted again the Power Cable... the battery charged up to 100%. How was this possible ? In Control Panel, Power Options, again it self-set to Performance from the ASUS RECOMMENDED which I had selected.
So, thinking something might be wrong with the 60% charging limit in MYASUS which did not come as default with this Laptop but I downloaded about 1 Year ago as an update as I mentioned earlier, I selected this time the 80% charging limit, used the computer and then, when done for the session, put it on Hybernate.
When I restarted the Computer from the Hybernate, it did it again like about 4 days before when this all started... first, when inserting the power cable the charging led light would not light up then, when pressing the Power ON button with or without the Power Cable inserted, the computer would not start.
I had to do another EC reset pressing the Power ON button for 40 seconds in order to then have the Power cable LED light show up and the Computer power up. Again, the clock time in the Task Bar would show as 12:00 AM and not match my actual time yet, the date was correct.
As of now, hoovering the battery in the task bar it shows at 80% power charge so, it looks like the 80% max charge limit in MYASUS is being met... yet, I keep having the clock time in the Task Bar get reset at 12:00 AM when restarting the computer from a previous hybernate or shut down (date is correct, though), and not match my actual time, as well as I keep having the Power Option in control Panel self switch from the ASUS RECOMMENDED which I set, to Performance.
Other then this, and saved a much slower boot up time as I was used to, the computer seems to work, I can run my applications, use the WiFi etc. I also have run over these few days several full diagnostics with MYASUS but no issue has ever came up, only a few advices.
What gives ?
What is the problem with this Laptop ? Is it a hardware or software issue ? What might it be ?
Thanks for the kind help.

Hi @popel45 ,
Based on your description, this could be a hardware issue causing the time errors and charging problems. Please continue to monitor the charging behavior and system performance. If the issue persists, we advise you to send the laptop for repair to further diagnose any hardware faults. We hope this information helps, thank you.

Hi @Anbby_ROG ,
thank you for the reply. May I ask what part of the hardware might be causing these time errors and charging problems from the symptoms described ?
Thank you.

This may be related to the CMOS battery or motherboard issues.
It still need the service center to conduct further testing on the laptop to confirm the actual problem. The above information is provided for your reference. Thank you.
