I've had this laptop since September 2023. It's been great in many tasks and under heavy loads until i began experiencing crashes or BSODs around August-September this year. Later on to this day, i've been unable to play a game or have a Chrome page open for 1-2 hours straight without any crash happening for the last 2 weeks. I get IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL code in my BSODs, i get STATUS VIOLATION ERRORs in Google Chrome, Exception codes: 0xc0000005, 0x80000003 and 0xc0000409... I'm sick of crashing in games, i'm sick of seeing ''Aw, snap!'' errors in Chrome pages, i'm sick of system crashing and leaving me with a Blue screen of death.
I've done many tests and research to fix this, nothing solved it. Deleting Armoury Crate and MyASUS did relief my system 2x maybe even more but i'm still suffering from crashes. I've switched to G Helper a few days ago and disabling CPU Turbo Boost almost solves the issue completely but i'm not sure about that yet.
My hardware passes tests nicely but i couldn't test them for long times and this short timed tests shouldn't be taken for granted. I've tried updating almost every driver i have but no luck so far. I need help please, thank you.
EDIT: I had edited my post a lot and took important parts out due to not being confident in my claims but i'm adding them back. I'm definitely affected by the Intel 13th-14th CPU Degradation problem of this summer, my G18 uses i9-13980HX and there are reports of it being affected by many users. Out of nowhere instability issues that worsen over time should be a great indicator on this issue and a good evidence for it when everything else fails to solve it + disabling CPU boost makes a huge difference. As of December, Intel has yet to admit that their Laptop/Mobile CPUs are also affected by their problem. Since they still didn't do this, i won't be able to ask for an RMA either. Thanks, that's great news. Paying a fortune on a laptop that i thought i would be using it for at least 5+ years and in light/heavy tasks with no issues was the biggest mistake that i can't even keep Chrome pages open!!!! AWESOME!
!!!!!!! FIX: I COULD FINALLY SOLVE THE INSTABILITY AND CRASH ISSUES!!!!! - DO EVERY TROUBLESHOOTING FIRST-
What you should do is reduce your P-Core multiplier from tools like Intel XTU (i'm using that one) by a few points, for example in my situation i'm using 49x and perfectly stable and the default for my CPU is 52x. I didn't touch E-Core multiplier, i added an undervolt of -0,085V for better performance while underclocked (but seriously you should always undervolt in my opinion, i was avoiding it for keeping my warranty, a dumb excuse on my side, but who cares it's not damaging your hardware like overclocking.).
I don't remember my stock settings benchmark results but I'm getting above 10.000 marks on XTU benchmark with these settings for myself which is quite fine for me. I can finally use my machine somewhat close to it's stock performance without any crashes. It's been a fight for a whole month but i finally did it, won over those stupid crashes! I'm so relieved and can finally be in peace even if it's a temporary fix for now. I'll be sharing this as much as i can. (Note that Marvel Rivals is also suggesting this method for their players who are using Intel 13th-14th desktop CPUs and it's the same way of solving these issues. I'm not playing that game but came across their post recently after fixing my issues, it's a very good backup to my claims as a laptop CPU user, on paper).
I'm going to use my device for a few other weeks because i need it but after that, i'm definitely going to send my device to ASUS service and request an RMA right away, i don't know how the process will be like but i have a lot of evidence in my hands by now (same error codes, messages, symptoms, scenarios and even fix as desktop CPUs) and they have to allow an RMA at this point, it can't work on stock CPU clocks!! HX using the same architecture with it's desktop counterparts are also a huge evidence that this series could very well be vulnerable to excessive voltage/degradation issue (but still, we need and have yet to see more reports coming in for this claim). I saw a few user reports around, let this be another addition to that. I still have my warranty for another 9 months but for those who don't, i hope you'll also see an extended warranty as desktop ones did and be able to replace your processor with a new one.
Note: You don't need any software such as Intel XTU or Throttlestop etc if you don't feel confident with them. you can also set your maximum frequency value from Windows, power plan settings. But you'll need to change a registry key to make it visible so the risk is yours and you have to be cautious with that. You can search for ''Maximum Processor Frequency''.
I hope this one saves you a lot of trouble until you can get your hardware replaced with a new and good one. Cheers 🙂

May I ask if you're using Windows 10 or 11, also when this crash happens does your screen turn black or is it just Blue Screens of Death?
I too have suffered many crashes but few were BSODs mainly mine were black screens due to power surges, I too have used G helper, changed thermal paste and fans as well as PSUs because I thought those were the initial issues but eventually experienced more issues with crashing whilst using GHelper, changing the Fan Curve eventually damaged my fans as they were spinning too fast constantly to prevent the heat build up, however none of these solutions ever fixed the problem I was facing.
The fix I found on my own through months of searching I have posted here https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-notebooks/rog-strix-g1713qm-black-screen-issues/m-p/1064996
Perhaps you could follow the accepted solution which may fix your problems for good, I would recommend deleting GHelper after applying the fix as it will only cause further problems for your hardware, however I would keep it installed and running during the implementation of the fix to try and fend off any crashes whilst you apply it as GHelper does work but still poses the risk of a crash and hardware damage in my own personal experience.
Please Note that I am on Windows 10 and unsure if this fix will work for Windows 11

I'm on Windows 11. Crash happens regardless of computer going to sleep/black. I play any game or have any window open, it just stops/freezes for a second and closes/crashes the other second. Chrome gives ''Aw, snap!'' errors with STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION codes. I get crashes almost randomly while idling too, i will do anything such as browsing through File Explorer or literally idle and after i come back from AFKing i'll see a rebooted system and login screen.
To be honest, using custom fan curve doesn't sound like you damaged / you'll damage your fans. They're capable of spinning that fast and without issues except its lifespan going down faster. Others can correct me but this is how i know it. Also, G Helper has been a savior for me after the Armoury Crate nightmare, i could disable CPU Boost and it'd reduce the performance 2x but give me at least 15+ Celcius temperature reduction and crash would be less frequent as it doesn't boost CPU up.
I'm using an i9-13980HX (HX is important) in this machine and from what i've seen it's the same CPU as the desktop version but fit into laptops.Microcode is even the same according to some people which i believe is correct because when i check the microcode version it shows ''128'' instead of ''129'' or something different than ''128'', that 128 version was the problematic one but since Intel doesn't admit it OEM manufacturers also didn't release a BIOS update for these mobile chips. And now many suffer from the same problem in their LAPTOPS, me included. GGs they screwed us over pretty good. Intel saying laptop CPUs aren't affected etc. but who can trust Intel anymore?!
Edit: Thanks for the comment by the way 🙂

So your PC/Laptop is facing a crash causing a reset? Does your computer ever face a black screen/freeze or does it always reset back to the login screen?
The issue that Ghelper had for me was that my fans were set to spin all the time to reduce the heat because I thought the heat was getting so high it'd cause my PC to force shutdown in order to protect the PC from overheating, as you stated this accelerated the deterioration of my fans life span causing once of them to break so I had to replace my fan. Using the fix I have given you I now face 0 crashes and resets, perhaps it's worth giving a try on Windows 11 as I'm almost certain it's the same process, when I had upgraded to Windows 11 I faced nothing but issues including major lag so I downgraded to Windows 10 and the lag was completely gone again, however I was facing the constant crashes and resets until I applied the fix I had given to you, anyway, best of luck!

My Laptop is facing both a type of crash that resets my computer in other words BSOD and also a type causing programs/games to crash randomly or freeze first then crash.
I'm glad to hear you're experiencing no more crashes but both situations look quite different to me. Still thanks for informing me about that and i'll watch out for what you've described if i encounter such a situation in the future, even seeing a reply here is very nice 🙂
Also i didn't have any crash today somehow, i did nothing nor Windows did any update or things like that, it just somehow didn't crash anything and looks very stable. Although the only thing different from other days is i haven't played any games today or did a heavy load on my system. One could think about temperatures but in the past days and weeks it didn't care about temperatures, it would crash even at 50*C etc. Very odd but i hope it will keep this stability and i will be able to use my laptop for a long time (although i'm sure it's going to crash again lol it happened like this before as well). Maybe my CPU isn't affected, reports say otherwise but i might be a lucky one around. I will definitely do an observation on my core voltages and limit it to 1.4V if it's needed, i heard people doing this in laptops after the intel issues.
I will update this post accordingly, i hope i won't forget to do it lol.
Take care 🙂

Unfortunately i got right back to my lovely crashes 🙂 I'm %99 sure it's my CPU that's damaged at this point. i9-13980HX. I literally checked HWInfo and my cores draw over 1.4V and boost to 5.5-5.6 GHz, it's crazy that Intel and ASUS left us to bleed out like that. No BIOS/Microcode updates still, that's a week left to 2025 too! That's crazy. I'm probably going to end my gaming life now thanks to these very successful and customer friendly brands. I don't even know if they're going to give me my money back, i doubt they will since there is still no announcement about this from Intel. They all know this but keep their silence. Enjoy the silence i think? Never buying from Intel again, probably ASUS too according to my upcoming customer service experience. GG.

Based on your description, we recommend using the MyASUS diagnostic tool to perform memory and SSD tests and conduct a scenario diagnostic (BSOD) to identify the issue.
Additionally, we suggest updating your BIOS to the latest version and using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely remove the graphics driver. Then, install the ASUS-verified NVIDIA graphics driver version V32.0.15.6607 and Intel graphics driver version V32.0.101.6127 to test if the issue improves.
Please also test the browser issue in Safe Mode, as this can help determine whether the problem is related to third-party software conflicts. Thank you!

Hello, thanks for the reply.
I've already tried MyASUS diagnostic tool which showed no problems with RAM, SSD and BSOD Scenario options. It was the first thing i referred to when i began my troubleshooting. I also keep everything up to date but this time before i began downloading BIOS for my flash drive, it automatically went and did a BIOS update when i booted my pc up one day, i went and checked both versions the one i have and the one ASUS lists for my computer, they both say it's version 331 so i think it's updated to the correct version.
I've already uninstalled my graphics driver via DDU and reinstalled it, i'll try the one that's listed in my device's download center although i'm sure it won't solve it. I already tried downgrading my Nvidia driver versions, no luck.
I wouldn't skip running it in safe mode but i didn't look back to it when it occured to me that this loooks a lot like a CPU problem. Also, my HWInfo shows my cores and Core VID draws (asks) over 1.5V, i couldn't find VCore value because my motherboard doesn't show up on sensors list and the author of the program has a few replies to other Asus laptop users who ask the same thing on HWInfo, he says something like VID is the closest thing we can have for Vcore values in this case but reliability of it is unknown. I also tried Driver Verifier but it didn't generate any report for the crash, i didn't try it a second time. I manually checked almost every driver i could find, none of them looks problematic.
The worst thing is when you search about this processor, i9-13980HX online you'll see these errors i've listed and especially web pages giving SECURITY_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors go hand in hand. I'm still trying for a few other things to maybe a little luck finds me and i get to keep using my computer but i've lost almost all my hope by now.

Thank you for your reply! Regarding the SECURITY_ACCESS_VIOLATION error you mentioned, this type of error is usually caused by system access permissions, driver conflicts, or hardware issues.
We recommend testing the ASUS verified display driver to see if it resolves the issue. You can also try booting into Safe Mode to check if the problem still occurs. This will help determine if certain third-party software or drivers are causing the issue. Additionally, using Cloud Recovery to reset the system can help eliminate potential system configuration conflicts.
We hope these steps can help resolve the issue. Thank you!

It looks most likely to be a hardware issue. I've looked for almost every 3rd party driver and fixed the ones i found that were useless or not beneficial for my system/resource usage. Although the crashes did not resolve by this and things that are CPU/RAM heavy crash way often compared to other things, GPU focused games etc. HWInfo shows me CPU VIDs all around 1.5V (i have no access to Vcore values if there are any available to see), my i9-13980HX is also another Raptor Lake processor... all signs point at CPU and Degradation crisis. I'm still trying what i can do to make it usable again but it doesn't look very promising.
I will try to update this post before it gets closed due to inactivity or make another post as an update if i can ever find something beneficial. The whole thing is very sad. At least i tried, there's nothing i can do anymore 😕
Have a nice day Anbby.
