Whenever the screen comes back on after idling, the contrast is auto-reduced, making the display brighter and white-washing out some of the lighter colours. Didn't catch it at first and it really messed with my design work. Eventually found a quick fix: By toggling between 144Hz and 60Hz in Display settings > Advanced Display > Refresh Rate. Somehow just by triggering that setting gets the screen to right itself even though in the following pop up dialogue box, I just choose "Revert" instead of "Keep changes". It doesn't matter whether I'm switching 144>60 or 60>144. Works the same. I'm grateful to have the quick fix but if there's a solution, it beats having to keep doing this, which can't be good for the hardware. Or is my hardware already compromised and that's why it's having this quirk?

Hi @Tsubamekun ,
Sorry for the late reply.
To further clarify your issue, could you please share your product model, the current version of the display driver you are using, and a video showing the display problem? This will help us to better understand and confirm the issue. Thank you.

I'm having the exact same problem, even though, in my case, the quick fix is not working either. Also, this is not a recent problem - I've been noticing this for months.
My model is a G731G. The controller is an Intel UHD Graphics 630, with a controller number version 26.20.100.6911 with date 28/05/2019 (dd/mm/YYYY). Aditionally, the laptop also uses an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, with version 31.0.15.5212 and date 02/04/2024 (again, dd/mm/YYYYY).
I've also recorded a video - the lack of contrast can be clearly appreciated when the screen is darkened, for example, via the screenshot utility - it can be found here: https://youtu.be/48nphc5boJc

Hi @gserranof ,
Thank you for your feedback.
Please try updating the ASUS System Control Interface v3 to version 3.1.31 and test if the issue improves. If you encounter any further problems after the update, please let me know. Thank you.

Hi @Anbby_ROG ,
Thanks for the answer - however, it seems I already had the System Control Interface updated to the latest version, so unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the solution.

Hi @gserranof ,
I would like to confirm if you have tested the display drivers validated by ASUS.
Additionally, could you please clarify if the issue occurs when using the iGPU or the dGPU? Thank you.

Hi @Anbby_ROG,
Yes, as I said, I'm using the validated and updated ASUS drivers. Regarding the GPU, by default the computer uses the iGPU (Intel UHD Graphics 630)
